Title: Personal update Post by: NOX1967 on November 20, 2002, 05:00:00 AM I have not posted here for awhile, but since this board has had a great impact on the actions I've taken I thought I'd check in. I have met the lady I think I'll marry. Her name is Alma and she lives in Iligan. I will be going there in April.
I studied this whole thing at some length before I started, and was lucky to meet Harold on here who helped me with some great advice. I probably talked to about 50 girls over a period of about a month. I found some that were just looking for money, and some that were just too eager. Finally I talked to Alma and everything just began to click. She is beautiful, smart, and open. I think something about this whole experience really transcends a large amount of issues that cause the failure of relationships in western culture. Some unrealistic notions and expectations of magical romantic love have been dispelled; "Oh you got your peanut butter in my chocolate!", "You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!", "Okay so let's get married!" There has been something more natural to this process. Not looking only for the person that fills you with romantic lust, but looking for somebody that has the qualities and skills for true partnership. I think that finding a mate in times long ago was more like this. When people needed a partner to simply survive I'm sure there was more emphasis on these qualities and less concern about peanut butter and chocolate. Ron Title: Hey Ralph! Hi Ron: Thanks for the post. Good point about MOB seeking making things a bit more logical and less emotional. I think being apart allows big pauses where you have time to think things through much more thoroughly. Maybe it sounds too clinical to many women, and perhaps that's where they come up with the "buying a wife" hooey - like comparison shopping rather than just getting swept up in the magic. I don't see why it can't have elements of both - like evolution & creation. Must they be mutuially exclusive? I think not - more like male and female, day and night, yin and yang - one not existing without the other. Just my taoist philosophy coming through. - Jeff Title: Congratulations! First Lady Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno were having one of those girl to girl talks, and Hillary says to Janet, "You're lucky that you don't have to put up with men having sex with you. I have to put up with Bill, and there is no telling where he last had his pecker."
