Title: Can't keep a good man down.....
Post by: Jay on September 19, 2002, 04:00:00 AM
Hi all,

Just got back a little while ago from the hospital. Looks like I got my own wake up call. It was a myocardial infarction, which by the way, means Heart attack, Matt. Always tryin' to make my stuff sound not as good as yours, eh Bro? ;-) Anyway, I've got 6 or7 pills I need to take a day for a while (a couple for life) and nitro glycerin if needed, which I hope it will never be needed. No more smoking, pizza 4 times a week etc.

Very scary experience, but at least I got to try Morphine. Not too bad. I give it an 8. ;-) Seriously though, I'm glad to be alive and know exactly whats wrong. It's a real second chance. Also on a bright note, I found out I was misdiagnosed with hepatitus C. I had been diagnosed in Dec., 01. It must have been a false positive. That had bothered me alot since Dec.. I had no symptoms and had not gotten treatment, but was very depresssed and anxious over it. Tht's one reason I didn't fly since Dec.. Worried about death and dying right here on the ground. Also my heart had been "fluttering" alot. Anyway, all is ok now if I just take care of myself better. Long as I don't get hit by a bus or something. ;-)

Thanks to all 6 of you guys and gals who expressed concern. As for the rest of ya, bite me! One thing I learned from this experience is life is too short to get frustrated or angry at little things like arguments on a computer board. I don't know about ya'll, but I'm getting out and going to live life. Next time you hear a plane overhead, look up. It just might be me.

Hi Hum,

Thanks for the support! I haven't been able to do ANYTHING 3 times a day for a while! Gettin' old. LOL!

Don't you go getting stressed too bad over the delay in Sallie Mae's approval. Don't want you to be next! ;) Do you think it takes longer the second time you petition someone, maybe?

Hang in there, Bro

Hey Jay,

Don't need no plane to fly with the monkey (morphine). Was that a morphine pump? If so, I know how to hot wire it. :o))) Add a few extra ingredients and I think we can raise that rating up to a 10. :o)))

Don't have another heart attack for pete's sake (or at least, your wife's sake).
I know what you mean by getting a wake up call and , going out and living life. For me, I'm going to travel. That is what I am focused on. Nothing can stop me now, but myself!!

Good Luck!! And please, if you smoke try and quit. I did last year, and I feel great, but fatter than I was before. Oh well.

Hi Lori,

Thanks SO much. The doctor told me today, that I "have the personality of a streetfighter". Whatever that means. He's British. LOL! He said that has got to change. He suggested running. I'll do my best. Yes, I can't smoke any more. I had cut down from 3 packs to 2 last year. It will be tough, but I'm doing my best. Don't have any smokes here at the house. Thier sending me to cardiac rehab next week, so I will be excersising with the old folks. LOL! That ought to be funny. At least it might keep the wieght off I will gain from not smoking.

You'll be ok, M'Lady. Go live that life! Maybe I can fly you to where you want to go one day. Hey, its possible. Stranger things have happened.

I had not had a ciggarette in 3 1/2 days, when the Doc diagnosed my personality today. I may have been a bit on the "snarly" side. Though I thought I was polite with everyone. I still am feeling edgy. Edgy as in, I think I can hear my hair growing, and it's getting on my nerves. ;) This quitting smoking is no fun.

I quit on my trip to Vietnam. I figured that I would be so busy, and it was pretty easy. But I did smoke in every airport bathroom from Omaha to Taiwan. I still have cravings though, and dreams about it. Heck, smoking was fun!! But I do feel so much better.

Hi Lori,

Smokin' in airport bathrooms, eh? Your a woman after my own heart! :-) Too bad we didn't meet earlier. ;-)

I remember back in '93, I took PAL from LA to Honolulu. All through the flight I could not smoke because it was in US airspace. When we landed in Hawaii, I was ready to scream, but they said before we got off the flight for an hour fuel stop, NO smoking in the airport. I like to Sh1t!. I said the hell with it, I'm gonna try the bathroom. If they bust you, you will get a ticket. I walked in the bathroom and there was a huge cloud of smoke. Under that smoke was about 25 Filipino guy's leanin' on wall's, puffin' away. Too many of 'em for the cops to bust. I have never been so happy to see Filipino's in my life. LOL!

My favorite though, was in the airport in Taipei. Sign's all over the place saying "No Smoking". Under all those sign's were huge ashtrays full of butt's. People smoked everywhere. Even the airport guys. Seem's like they felt if you put up the sign's, then you satisfied the no smoking law! :-)

Glad to hear thing's are moving along on "bootin' the alien". I'm sure it still must suck though. I really feel for ya. Use the anger now to take care of the legal stuff ASAP. Later, you can let the sadness come and use it to build your character. Being hurt like that has always made me stronger. Wish I could fit him with a new pair of kneecaps for ya. I really do.

Jay.....good to have you back.  Glad to see you're up and around.

But tell me.....how's the wife doing?  Many times the man gets sick, gets all the attention...and by the time he's up-and-around the wife is ready to break down.

Best wishes to you wife.

Hi Stephen & Tess,

Thanks for your concern. Criselda held up well. She's a tough cookie. She has been through more than her share of hospital scenes with me, but all that was alcohol related a long time ago. This really shook her much more than I have seen in the past. This time, from the moment I woke her up saying I think I'm havin' a heart attack, she knew it was serious. She was by my side most of the time till last night when she went back to work. By that time, I had the heart Cath and we knew it was mild and I would be ok. She is at the moment getting her first decent sleep since Saturday.

I love her more today than I did last week, if that's possible.

Take Care,
Jay

Hi Jay,

First of all, welcome back to you and tito Matt! I'm also glad that you didn't come back as a ghost. I remember when you moved and your computer hadn't arrived yet. I did some "ghost posting" for you. I'd sure hate to be possessed by you on a regular basis. =8oO

Hi Dave,

Ghost posting? You mean you took my place as "the ranting one"? LOL! Nice talking to you last night. We did keep my roomate up. He made it a point to tell me after I hung up. Oh well, he was a nice old guy, former Corsair fighter pilot in WW2. Thanks for the welcome back.
