Hey Jeff,

"If you got bad news, you wanna kick them brues...shabu" :o))

How about Crapton's songs "Rovin'You Rovin Me,"Brow Wind Brow," and "Rayla." Say...if Ray's first wife had been Japanese, he might have had a daughter named "Rayla." ;o)))

Jeff  don't  give  my  chef  any  ideas.

I  am  upstairs  this  week  covering  the  ala  carte  dessert  station for  our  3 restaurants  and  room service,  while  my  coworker  is  visiting   mexico  again.   somehow  we  are  responsible  for  making  pizzas  too  and  they  can  be  pretty  gross too.

1. Shrimp pizza  ---  according  to  the  menu  it  is  supposed  to  get  Cilantro pesto, shrimp, red onions, chorizo, mozzerella, and  an avacado  after  it  is  baked.
So  I  made  these  only  to  find  out that the  customers  wanted  it  made  this  way ---- marina, shrimp, green  and red  peppers,  jack  cheese  and  pimeapple.

I  gave  the  2 reject  pizzas  to  the young  mexican  dishwashers and  made  a hasty  retreat   before  they  could look at  me  funny.

2.  here  is  another winneer I  made  2  nights  ago --- Pizza  crustwith  only  fennel  baked  crisp  then topped  with  Cold  smoked  salmon, creme  fraiche  and  chives  on  top.  the  waiter  and  I  just  look  at  each  other  and  said  what  the  hell  is  wrong  with  these  people  ordering  this.

The  Japanese  barbeque  Chicken pizza  does  look  quite  tasty  though.

Actually I put one too many u's in square I wrote squuare a typo. If you put a search in Yahoo for square watermelons it will show you the news sites. BBC has a story on it also with a nice picture of the watermelons. The catch is that they sell for 10,000 yen or around 83 US dollars. The pizza above looks yummy especially the squid ink pizza!

Whan my wife first got here, she was shocked at how cheap watermelons were. At the time I think I bought a huge one for about $2 or $3 and gave it to her. She acted like I'd given her a diamond. Apparently they're all really pricey there.

yeah, but they weren't square were they? i remember back in the early 80's when i was stationed in georgia, farmers sold them from the back of their pickups 4 for $1 and shortly afterwards while stationed in japan i remember seeing the bowling ball shaped (pre square technology) watermelons going for around todays us prices for one.
