Title: Got the 2nd NOA...now what? Post by: dennis64 on June 11, 2002, 04:00:00 AM I've received the second notice of action saying that the petition has been approved. They're saying it's valid until mid September. Okay, great....but now what do we do? Is my fiancee supposed to contact someone? Will the embassy send her anything (because they certainly haven't contacted her yet). We've completed all the forms (D-156, 157, Affidavit of support, etc.) and we're just waiting for something else to happen. Thanks to all of you guys on this board who helped and are helping because if I depended only on the Feds for info, I'd be completely lost.

Hi Dennis, This is how it went for us in the summer of 2001. It was at the begining of the "No Interview" policy. Our approval (2nd NOA) somehow reached Manila in about 2 weeks from the TSC. My fiancee (now wife) received a telegram from the embassy informing her to call a phone number. When she called, they requested her passport number and then sent her an info and forms packet (used to be called Packet 3). It arrived in about in 5 days (usually 3-5). After she completed several forms, gathered the required documents, payed the medical fee at the bank listed, she went for the medical (open appointment) at St. Lukes. When she finished with the medical (physical, Xrays, blood work, and vaccines - 1.5 days), the embassy personel at St. Lukes collected the required documents. She then went to the Delbros window at the embassy and payed the delivery fee (to Butuan City, Mindanao). They told her that the Visa would arrive within 10-15 business days, which it did. After she received the Visa, she went to Cebu for the CFO class. The fiancee can take the CFO (Philippine government requirement) class before or after Visa approval, in Manila or Cebu. The CFO stamp will only be placed in passport after the Visa is approved and in the passport. Since she didn't want to take 2 boat trips to Cebu, she waited for the Visa before taking the CFO class. If your fiancee hasn't already done so, she needs to get her passport, CERNOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage), Birth Certificate on security paper (from NSO - not local one), and her NBI Clearance. Thanks Dave! Fortunately, we've gotten most of those things out of the way including the CFO class. The embassy did send her a telegram today!!! Now she has to go to St. Luke's for her physical. Thanks for responding...I was surprised that yours was the only one but everybody on here has been EXTREMELY helpful throughout this process. Thanks again! Hi Dennis, It took a little while to get it straight in my head. It's amazing how fast we forget this stuff, probably just want to put it all behind us. It's hard to keep current as the INS and the embassy change policy and procedures all the time. Good Luck! Dave H. |
