Frank, I have been out of the FSU arena for a while, having become engaged to a wonderful Vietnamese woman. But, reading your posts, I had to express my empathy. You indicated you have a lawyer and are covering your butt. Great. Just make sure it is a lawyer that knows this stuff inside out. He or she should be moving very agressively and quickly to protect your interests. The best defense against a fraudulent DV charge is a prior divorce filing. Discuss it with your lawyer, but I would consider putting her up somewhere else until this is resolved or, if she refuses to go, staying somewhere else until it is resolved. You are in a very strong legal position now, but if there is a DV charge, all bets are off. Good luck. I am sorry to hear how badly things went and hope they improve for you. For what its worth, I'd give some thought to therapy or counseling (for you, not to try to fix the relationship). You are going through a horrible situation and anyone could use help under these circumstances. The guys on this board are, with a few notable exceptions, supportive and good guys, but it wouldn't hurt to be talking to someone with some expertise. Best wishes, Craig |
