Never been there, but have been several times to nearby Romania and a friend of mine was dating a Moldovan girl for a while (he did visit her in Chisinau.) I have also had correspondence with a Moldovan girl. My information is that Moldova is rock-bottom among its neighbours (Romania, Ukraine, Russia etc) in terms of its economy and living standards, and sadly this also explains why such a high proportion of girls in the European "sexploitation" industry come from there. But from what I know, the girls from there are no different, in themselves, from those elsewhere in Eastern Europe. Those I have had contact with were affectionate, sincere and genuine; but naturally, also desperate to change their situation. I believe the official language is Russian, although many also speak Romanian and the culture is something of a mix between the two. Think of Ukraine and then turn the clock back a few years, and probably you will have a fair picture of it. |
