Title: it has begun!
Post by: Jack on November 23, 2004, 05:00:00 AM
At this very moment (6:15pm)  there are some 500 individuals trying to break the doors to Verkhovna Rada.

There are an estimated TWO MILLION people in the center of Kiev NOW.

Quotes from one of my friends in Kiev, ........
It has begun!

Ukrainian people have accepted Yuschenko to be our only president.
He has made an oath of the president of Ukraine and now about 191 deputies of Verkhovna Rada are going to the independence square to begin taking control of the Cabinet of Ministers, Presidential administration and Verkhovna Rada.

Cell phones and all other means of communication except internet, Tv are down. Ukraine is under information blocade!

break out ?  I'm sure there would be isolated events, but I just don't buy it that Kuchma has that much power.  And everybody knows Putin is in the mix because his days will be numbered if the orange party wins.

Very peaceful protest or whatever you want to call it (assembly?). HOwever ONE THING IS CLEAR. There is NO WAY Yanukovich could have LEGALLY won that election. He was going to lose in a landslide of monstrous proportions. I DO hope Yuschenko becomes president.

In my post a week or so ago, I was afriad of this.  I know I'm a noob to this stuff, but I did call it, and was worried for a reason.  I just pray that my wife will be able to come to the US.  Her I-130 is approved, just waiting for interview and the other little things that need to get done before that.  Should be here end of January or February...I have high hopes, but this is definitely worrying me a lot.  Can't think straight at the job.

CNN just had a live broadcast from Kiev at Independence Square.  The size of the crowd is very large.  At the moment...peaceful.  And definitely alot of older people protesting.  Reuters has some very good photos online.  This story is just breaking-out.  #'s are variable.

BBC news 24 has some live coverage, they are waiting for the parliment to act before they start anything. If they want to amount an armed struggle I would volunteer.
