Title: Customs
Post by: romachko on November 06, 2004, 05:00:00 AM
Is there anyone, who recently came back with his new bride/fiancee?
How lenient or strict is the U.S. customs office? What is a foreign bride/fiancee allowed to bring in duty free? How about a wedding/engage ring she is wearing? How about her dresses and shoes?

Last month I saw a guy (American) being questioned by the customs officer at OfHare.  They were arguing about the shoes (probably designerfs variety), which this guy had in his luggage. I wonder whether a woman is allowed to bring in her daily belongings to her new homeland without paying duty.

I brought my fiance'(now wife) over in Dec '03 through JFK and had no problems with clothing or a 27" suitcase full of Russian books, audio cassettes and cd's.

Hey 'Big Feathers'
I think we all know what you are waiting for, you only have to be patient; a little ;-).... just wait in a hurry .... a while yet.

How do you illuminate something that lacks any form of polarity? Beats me .....  "While on the subject of illumination; is there a GST on a FSUW entering the USA carrying personal cyclic materials (Used or Unused)? :-) If anyone knows, thought Ya might have a clue!!  LOL

By the way, I have NEVER heard of the saying; NEVER,and dont have a clue where it comes from ....

"people who refer to cold weather as "pearl harbor"?

Never been used here in my lifetime, and, I am as old as the hills here now ... :-(

Illuminate me !

Huh? Say again Mate, you're broken and unreadable.

I don't have a clue about anything, ask anyone. I just know a good line  when I see it and Frankie's was choice. I hope he doesn't get aggro with me, I was only yankin his chain.

I work with one of you guys on occasion. One day he was peering out and said "bit of a pearl harbor out there ay?" When I pointed out I wasn't fluent in strine he explained. I dunno, maybe he was being a drongo or watches too much big snike TV. I suppose I could research it but I'm too lazy.

I meant no offense though, give us a pash ;)
