Hmmmm...

Just noticed something interesting.

The current board has been active since the Middle of April. That is one month and a half of activity...

I checked the archives quickly... A year ago, ARCHIVE 223 went from 4/18 to 4/22 before running out of room, and having to be archived. That's not even two weeks! That seems ot be fairly typical in the random sampling I checked.

So, whereas this board used to fill up every two weeks or so, now it takes six... seeming to indicate an activity slow-down of -- what is that... 300% (I'm really bad at statistics...)

Now... I wonder why that is...???

and Jack got banned, the 'trouble makers' who like to bash for no good reason just up and left the board since there was no real controversy for them to stick their nose into.

That's when the traffic really dropped off. Every board I've ever particpated in (cars, motorcycles, etc.) has had a noticeable drop off after a couple of years any way. After all the questions get asked and answered several times, people just get burned out with repeating themselves over and over again for the newbies.

I check the board out almost every day, but have very few occasions to post anything since there are very few questions of interest to me.

Let the boys on other boards participate in self flagellation and mental masturbation. If that's all they are capable of, then let them stay where thay are.

Dr. Search, their is no doubt that the economy has effected a lot (and I mean a lot) of middle and upper class men. And for sure I have seen and felt the effect. The time most effected was after 9-11 for about 8-9 months.

Search I wish you would send me an e-mail. I lost your e-mail in a crash in late 2003 and have been wanting to write you about something.

Sorry to butt into the conversation. I've been trying to get in touch with you via your email but for some reason the system would not let me.

Just meant to let you know that I am unable to go to Russia this June. We're moving to a different place (still in CT, though - so it's not that bad) and all the procedures are supposed to take a while. Anyway, I'm still hoping to be in St.-Petersburg by the end of July. If you have a group at that particular time, I'll be more than happy to offer my skills.

Sorry for such short notice. If there is any translating/interpreting projects you are having problems with, please don't hesitate to contact me. Otherwise, hopefully I could be helpful in St.-Petersburg, Russia.

Men have ALWAYS travelled... that was true last year this time, too, when the number of posts were 3X what they are this year.

I don't think that explains it...

I think it is a PL specififc thing...

By comparison, traffic on RWG is up from last year.

Dan's board didn't exist last year, so, of course its activity would be up there, as well... which, based on who is posting there -- steals traffic from here.

I don't post or read Dan's board, (though, surprisingly, I was invited -- guess they were just looking for someone they could kick) When I checked it out I saw it was mainly dominated by the circle of guys from on here who have formed their own mutual admiration society. They were all basically sitting around complimenting each other on how smart they all are... They used to do that here, so all of that traffic moved to Dan's board... (not that PL is the poorer for it...)

As for the rest... Many of the old posters on here were driven off by the highly antagonistic nature of the board...

Others drifted off due to the natue of things -- as guys get married, most move on, no longer insterested in the subject of searching for an RW...

Some of the fall off is to be expected...

But I don't think it can be easily explained by guys travelling over... IMHO...

I think it is more Gal 6:7 ... personally...

Cheap shots and misinformation.

Many of the "old posters" are still here. I've been here far longer than you have. So has Jack. We (and others) simply recall your many foibles and it irks you to be reminded of them - not surprisingly.

Galations 6:7 you say. Hmmmm . . . "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

I should think one so high and mighty would be a bit more circumspect about bringing religion into the debate. Particularly a verse that bespeaks a judging attitude.

But then again - it is the same 'ol Mark - judgements, contradictions, and priapisms abound.

Is is really necessary that we keep antagonizing one another? I, personally, think that Mark has a valid perspective on this whole thing. The guy actually went over there, found a wife, brought her back, and appears to be happily married.

If you don't agree with him, that's fine. If you want to post a polite, on-topic response, that's fine. If you want to disagree and keep quiet, that's fine.

But personal attacks are not really called for.

Can't we all just make an effort to get along?

(Interesting that all the guys from Dan's board came flocking over in a bunch, on the attack. Shhhh! I bet if we're all real quiet that they'll all go back over to their new board and tell each other how smart they are, and how they all put me in my place...)

It doesn't matter... I was just curious to see if anyone else had noticed the drop off, and if anyone had ideas as to why.

I've been on the board for over three years... I have never seen it so slow...

Flame-wars come and go... Before it was Me and Jack, it was Jack and Dimitry, or Jack and SPike, or Jack and Mark H... or Oscar and Dan, or LP and his taget of the week... seems there was always some little war going on...

But never silence...

I found it curious, that's all...

If your curiousity were so pure, you would not have jumped at the first (innocuous) post to launch a missile.

You were baiting with your initial post (some would call it trolling) - hoping that someone would respond (as they did) with just enough of a reply so that you could make your point about how great is the RWG and how depleted are the other boards and those board's participants.

Clearly you do not read the RWD or you could not (with credibility, anyway) make the various claims you make here.

But that's OK - with all that blood flowing to your minor extremity, it's no wonder you can't maintain a coherent and credible thought. The brain does require blood to support itself you know.

But, I was merely pointing out a curiosity. My initial post was absolutely non-offensive (if you actually took the time to read it.) I only mentioned RWG when BobbyOrr said things were slowing on "all boards" -- which is simply not true.

And I do think that your board's activity has affected PL... You mean that you don't?

Frankly, I don't care... But I did think it was interesting...

Yes, your initial post was (on the surface) innocuous enough - as was JohnK's response.

Your response to his n/t post, however, was far from "curious."

Mark, you can pour this kind of pablum down the throats of those on RWG, but your insipid attempts to feign innocence are insulting to anyone with half a brain - even those whose brains are blood-starved.

I never thought you a bad guy. Actually, I liked your enthusiasm and input, and your journey. What I hated about what you wrote was your premise that your way was the best way. You told of how you were twice divorced when you began looking in the FSU. That's OK. I was divorced 15 years ago and if I'd married 2 others I'd had relationships with after that....one for 5 years, another 6, I'd have been like Liz Taylor by now.

I hope you succeed this time as I think your heart is in it.
But never give up too much. Your "success story" will be determined 20 or 30 years from now, and not before. You are happy now, and most are happy for you.

At least she is not 40 years your junior, or you would be sleeping with a 3 year old. Tone down man. Tell of funny things that happen to you, how she adapts, the kids, what others that follow your path may expect. That's all.

I really didn't expect a firestorm over my little observation...

But, I *have* learned not to share anything on here about how my wife has adapted, or funny things that have happened.

Too many guys on here are just waiting for the chance to attack...

I may be stupid, and a slow learner... but eventually, I did learn my lesson.

You need to take a HARD look at the genesis and evolution of things before flapping your mouth off.

*IF* you took the time to read FIRST, you'd see that Mark posted a baiting question only to take the first opportunity to tackle issues that are still apparently stuck up his ass from eons ago.

I agree that Mark, indeed, has a valid perspective - one valid perspective - and if he stuck to that perspective, I doubt anyone would get too terribly rankled. As it is - he's an intentional troublemaker. Worse, perhaps, than a troll.

I don't know why exactly, but after several years of seeing Mark's prolific (if not downright profligate) posts, I just conjure up this image of a jumpy over-active puppy dog running around jumping up and down and slathering dog spit all over everyone - all while wearing a bright pink hard-on looking for the next "wife' to jump on (or in, as the case may be).

Maybe it has to do with his story of the frisbee - and the one of his viagra. Somehow there's a connection there --smile--.

Reminds me of all those ED commericals I see where they mention how sustained erections over 4 hours require immediate medical attention. What's up with that? I always laugh out loud when I hear it, imagine rolling into an ER with that problem? Good thing it doesn't apply to emotional hard-ons or he'd have expired long ago.

I dunno, maybe I should break down and finally try some of this stuff. If I die you may have to bury me vertically though ;)

An ex-girlfriend of mine is a Urology Nurse. She's seen pretty much everything. One guy came in with a priapism, self inflicted the hard way (no pun intended). He heard that if you injected liquid cocaine into your penis you could stay hard for hours. Indeed it did. 14 hours later, he came into the ER in extreme pain, as the swelling hadn't gone down. Another idiot decided to wrap a rubberband around his member once it was erect to keep it at attention. The idiot was drunk at the time and passed out with the rubber band on.

Needless to say, those guys have removed themselves from the gene pool, as they will never be able to interact in an intimate fashion with that equipment ever again...

Catch him in all his glory on the RWD. It's rapidly dissolving into another puddle of goo and syrup but he's something to behold if you can stomach him. It's only matter of time before he gets his jets cooled by some FSU floozie.

I did the "Agro Tourism" thing. This is a government sponsered program to provide economic stimuli to the villages.

Basically, to get listed with this program. A house must meet certain requirements in regards to archetecture and other asthetics in addition to having modern amenities. I stayed in a village (Tochni) in the foothills northeast of Limassol. The house was built out of native stone and was a little over 200 years old. From here I was pretty much able to cover the whole Republic. I hit the Akimas Peninsula, and spent quite a bit of time in the Troodos.

Byzantine art is a bit of hobby of mine, so I spent quite a bit of time checking out the frescos in the various mountain chapels and monastaries.

I rented a Renault Clio (now I know first hand why they are no longer sold in the US). In spite of the French engineering I was able to go pretty much every where in this car (even on the Akimas).

Never did do the Agia Napa club scene. But, I put away some Ouzo and Commandaria in the village taverna.

Yeah, I like Cyprus when I was away from the major tourist centers. It is a bit pricey though. I would say on average about 1/3 higher then here.

Cypriots are friendly folks. There was some decent mountain biking (I don't think mountain biking comes naturally to FSU women but I gave her a B- for effort ;) ) and they tell me a guy can even do a little skiing there on Mount Olympus in the winter. Might have to go back and check that out....

I do not know if RWG traffic is up or not. I do know that I like its format better because it is more organized. I also know that with the except for the portion about visas the "information" on that board is not to be trusted at best and will get one in a whole heck of alot of trouble at worst, because most of the information is only permitted to be written by the bigger advertisers. All most guys get to read is what the biggest paying advertisers want him to read. I feel sorry for a newbie on that board because the information he gets is extremely biased and misleading. Anyone with an opinion based on experience or one contrary to their "band of brothers" is banned from that board.

HockeyGuy, I can tell you, based on personal discussions with one advertisor on that site, and from documents received addressed to one of the larger advertisors, traffic (hit's) are down on the mentioned site.

I think Hockeyguy it's more typical false information from a well known individual who seems to enjoy passing out false information or changes positions and recommendations as often as he has another drink.

On another note, seeing the hundred's of thousands of stunning beauties in Kiev again reminded by one man's opinion that Dallas has more beautiful women than Kiev. Again, I can only shake my head in amasement. How anyone can make such a statement must be blind. I think someone was sniffing too much glue during Woodworking One.

Hmmm... I was merely commenting on the volume of traffic... not quality of the board.

Feel free to like P-L better... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion ... that really has nothing to do with my point that P-L traffic is down whereas other boards' traffic is not...

As for the rest:

1. I have seen far more misinformation on this board, believe me. But that's the internet for you. Anyone who reads anything on ANY board should cross check it for himself...

2. You must have drunk some powerful koolaid if you think posts are driven by advertsing, Bobby... only two regular posters on there are affiliated with an agency, and neither of them posts much at all anymore. Are you kidding me? Look at who is doing the posting over there... they aren't with any agency. I'm surprised you would say such a thing. Or... parrot such a thing, more likely.

3. As for the getting banned for contrary opinions... again, this is a myth some would have you believe, but its not true. Sheesh... I expected better of you. You've seen the discussions and debates by Cameraguy, Donna Pedro, KenC, Ronnie, me and others... haven't you? (None of which have any agency affiliations, btw)

Your posts amazes me, and does you a disservice...

I suspect you are the one drinking the tainted koolaid in this instance. Lets see -JB over there has his flower delivery business, Kevin has an agency, Rver is working for an agency. Spencer owns Dating Depot - or has he had to sell off everything now that he is getting sued for the conduct on the Spencer RWguide. Hm...Ultra is a messenger for Anastasia - and there are more; but I do not need to dwell on it. I prefer PL - where you have one agency owner Jack telling his truth and other agency owners who dare to challenge him all running.

Maybe guys know what is going on and have no need for new information. Maybe alot of Jack's guys are over with him in Ukraine right now. Maybe guys are slowing down their pursuit of a FSU woman ie. fewer newbies. Maybe guys are getting bored with this format. Who knows for sure, but I agree with you that things are slowing on all boards.

Well, I'm back and 11 of the 14 guys on the Spring trip are back. I plan to do a little trip report on this and the www.Russiawomendiscussion.com site over the next few weeks.

One will see a drop in hit's from several of the larger discussion boards for several reasons. A few of those reasons are; more Russian discussion board sites, men tired of reading of a guys recommendations and two months later the same guy is making recomendations 180 degrees opposite of his earlier advice, distrust in some of the commercialized discussion boards, discussion boards whose moderators are doing a great percentage of the postings and discussion boards who are quick to ban anyone who disagrees with board owner to name a few of the reasons I see for fewer postings.

Hockeyguy I do not see a slow down in guys pursuing a Russian/Ukraine bride. There was a slow down during the fourth quarter of 2001 and the first and second quarters of 2002 but since then there has been a steady increase in guys interested in pursuing a bride from the former Soviet Union.

I am still amazed at the high percentage of really beautiful and sincere women their are in Ukraine. After 30 seconds walking thru the terminal of Chicago's O'Hare airport and seeing the typical American women, I can only shake my head in digust and realize how lucky I am.

Lol, lay off ORD ok? I've met women there from all over the world. You can't really tell who you're dealing with in a place like that unless you get to know 'em.

As for statistical slowdown, from what others tell me (from here and one other board) it's mainly a content issue. Who wants to respond to much of the current drivel? (I'm making an exception just cuz it's you ;).

Could it be guys are tired of "men" who refer to themselves as Lavender Boy and others who feel a need to validate their wife's attractivness to a bunch of strangers by posting photos of her on the Net in a bikini? Who're so insecure they need to show off their possession like a pickup truck or power tool?

Could it be guys are simply tired of hearing about dog and pony sex shows, guys robbing the cradle, scammers robbing the grave, Viagra, or the wayward escapades of some chick's underwear? Could it be they're finally tired of reading this kind of crap from their so called peers? Could it be there actually may be hope for some of these guys after all? It boggles the mind...

Lastly, are you aware that 83.7% of all people make up their own statistics? ;)

I know what you're writing about. Just this February or March, someone briefly posted a picture of himself and his blond "possession" taken at the beach. It was an obvious attempt to impress others, feed/inflate his large ego and sense of superiority and, as you so correctly wrote above, justify himself as one of those " ...... who feel a need to validate their wife's (in his case, girlfriend) beauty to a bunch of strangers on the Net. That same individual promised to be leaving the board but he continues to quite obviously lurk on a virtual daily basis. He'll occasionally post under the silly guise of "just passing through" or some nonsense about a "little birdie......." That same individual continues to be afflicted with the pathological need to directly (Travis, Scaught, JRM, others) or indirectly put others down in a thinly veiled attempt to elevate himself. Talk about insecurity! Oh yeah,........... I remember that poster had a L(arge) P(auch)! Perhaps you remember that Poster too????
