There is a museum in Kiev, which displays materials and photos related to the disaster. Both Chernobyl and Three Mile Island accidents happened because the maintenance people who did not follow the manuals. The Chrnobyl victims, who survived, are still suffering. They will continue to suffer for the rest of their lives as Hiroshima-Nagasaki victims are suffering after nearly 60 years. Some of sufferage include DNA alteration, which may affect their offsprings. The Japanese doctor, who headed a volunteering team to help them shortly after the disaster, says that Ukrainian doctors lacked very fundamental knowledge about nuke related injury and medical complications. These foreign doctors are still regularly visiting there. Title: How Has Belarus Offspring Been Affected Since? Significantly higher incidences of both Thyroid cancer and leukemia. Officially the death toll still sits at something like 45. By the way, how is the wife and boy. He is two now? Title: Hey Phil!... Great photos. It never ceases to amaze me at how nice some of these people you meet out there are...I've got a good friend heading out to Belarus soon... Our boy Alex is doing fine.He just turned 2 end of January.Unfortunately,he has a slight problem medically with his heart called PDA.It's a valve that remained open after his birth that should have closed but never did and is causing a slight murmer.(Never know it by his activity...) We're bringing him to a specialist in Boston in a few weeks for a second opinion but it looks like he'll be needing a minor operation through his groin to correct the problem in the near future to put this behind us all... Alex already is in pre-school to get a jump on his speaking abilities. It's not un-common when 2 languages are spoken at home for a young developing child to get a little confused. Some days he speaks up a storm and on others he don't want to speak at all.He speaks 2 languages, english and russian. The wife simply loves living in this country compared to Bishkek,Kyrgzstan. We recently filed her I-751 to have her conditions on residency removed and she got her standard letter giving her a 1 year exension and waiting period. Thanks for asking Phil and best of luck in YOUR endevors...
