Title: UKraine news: what about Saddam? Post by: Frank O on December 14, 2003, 05:00:00 AM Anyone know any sites for Ukrainian or Russian news? Just wondering because in my trips to Ukraine they actually views Saddam as a hero. My wife thought he "was a very good man". So I'm just curious to see news from their perspective.

I can't speak to your wife's feelings on this man but it's completely opposite from my wife's (and her family's attitude about him). I don't know I thought it pretty strange & was aghast when I first heard her say that & realized she was serious. From what I saw just about ALL of them had nothing good to say about Bush & nothing but praise for Saddamm. I finally got fed up & let em have it. I told them the reason they kiss his arse is because they are the ones selling him all his arms & mentioned Kuchmas sale of anti aircraft artillery to Iraq & mentioned we stopped sending aid to Ukraine therefore they are ticked. After a while they just shut up. NONE of them knew about ANY of this. Funny they kept telling me WE believe a lot of pro American/anti Iraqi propaganda. Also coincidentally one thing almost ALL brought up was "if you attacked Iraq does that mean if you don't like Kuchma you will attack us?!" Talk about stupid illogical "reasoning".
