months. April tends to be kinda chilly. I have been there or Russia every Christmas/New Years since '99. I grew up in Texas(where you can only take off so much clothes, and you are still hot!)You just layer your clothes. Have a good pair of boots, you can get them there for cheap. The weather gives you an idea what the people there have to deal with to survive. Also, you can almost be assured you will have hot water. I would go back this winter in a heartbeat, if it was possible. Last week of April this year and last year, at least in Kiev and Odessa, were not chilly unless you consider 70 chilly. The nights did get to about 54. I was there this year in late May. Landed in Dnepropetrovsk on May 22 and it was HOT and muggy. Took the train to Simferopol on May 25 and Crimea was nice. Stayed in Simeiz near Yalta and the temps was mid 70's but nights were cool. As far as going in the winter, I am going in 2 weeks. It will be freezing but I have a good girl to keep me warm so I do not mind... I was born and lived in So Cal all my life so I think I may freeze my @ss off outside so we plan to be inside most of the time! :) Z Title: Re: weather in ukraine, when does it warm up? The best barometer I used for when it was warm enough in Russia or Ukraine was when were the ladies getting into those short, sheer sensuous Spring skirts. You can count on the fourth week of April year in and year out. Sometimes the third week of April it is warm enough but you can count on the spring outfits coming out by the fourth week of April. We're headed to Odessa on Christmas Day to visit the in-laws. Just take some extra sweaters and wool socks! Title: Maybe Around June . . . Post by: Dan on November 12, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to weather in ukraine, when does it warm up..., posted by mudd on Nov 12, 2003
Actually May can be kind of nice - and if you are going to Crimea, you may be able to enjoy some springtime weather in late-April. As for who is going in the winter - I'll be there for quite some time starting in December. Have tried to go skiing in the Carpathians for a couple of years, but the weather was too warm. Maybe I'll make it this time. - Dan Title: Re: Maybe Around June . . . Post by: AJoe on November 13, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Maybe Around June . . ., posted by Dan on Nov 12, 2003
I think this year will be good for winter sports in Crimea, already we've had 2 snowfalls in Crimea, usually it's a promising sign for the upcoming season. As for warm in April, maybe, last year was extremely cold here until June, but you never know. |
