Hey Dave,
How's it going in sunny fla. I was wondering how's it going
with you and the mrs.    How she adjusting in fort lauderdale.
I have read some of your past post, that your wife works as a
nurse. Has the filipino population grown in that area.
I remember a filipino store being in miami just off rt 95,
that was in 88.    Well bye for now

Hey Joe,

Things are going good. Thanks for asking. Having similar weather to the Philippines and many of the same trees and plants, has somewhat helped my wife to feel that she is still in her homeland. There are also many Hispanics who resemble Filipinos. But, it is still not the same. The honeymoon phase of being in a new country has worn off and the homesickness has set in. She mostly misses her niece and family, but also life in the Philippines in general. I think that she is doing remarkably well, but she doesn't think so. Keeping busy with work and activities, has also helped to keep her mind off of the homesickness. It just takes time, love, and patience.

The Filipino store in Miami closed about 6 months ago. It was 15 miles from my house. Believe it or not, I recently discovered another Filipino store that was a mile from my house. I'm heading over to buy some pan de sal in a few minutes. :oP I just thought it was another Asian store and had never bothered to go inside. The Asian and in particular, Filipino population is growing rapidly in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale area). Many are being recruited to work in the healthcare industry.

I hope things are going well for you!

Hey Dave,
Thanks for the reply, rain is all you have in Seattle.
For me things are good, still have my health and
being employed. The same goes for the wife.
I think it will take awhile for your wife to get settle
that is a big process for her. Being away from the
family and all. I think part of my success is
I always had her family around us. And I greatly
accept that. Being married to pina, the family is
one big unit. And to where I'm now it took alot
of patience and work. I mention in a past post
that I stay with my family,in Davey, ft. lauderdale
the wife did not like the weather there. But I
had alot of fun running around the strip and
shopping at Broward mall. And I miss those rumrunner drinks.
               Keep the faith,   Joemc

Hey Joe,

My brother lives in Davie. It is just down the street from me. I'm not much for the heat down here and just about always use my aircon in the house and car. My wife is starting to get used to the aircon and curls up close to me at night. :oD My wife's little sister lives about 20 miles away, which has been good for both of them. Rumrunners...sounds great! Maybe I will have one tonight with some coconut shrimp. :oP

Hey Dave,
My parents use to have a mobile home off the
fla. turnpike and rt. 84.  When I was down there
I was helping my dad, building a house in Marathon
in the keys ,off of mile marker 54. The keys are
neice to see.But I would not like to live there.
I remember working in the keys and sweating my
arse off.And also dealing with scorpins hiding
      between the lumber.

...not...it passed. ;o))

Hey Joe,

My brother lives in Davie. It is just a few miles away from my house. The Keys is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Most people have to commute to Miami to work, it's expensive, getting crowded, and hot. There is good diving and fishing however. I would need a boat with an aircon pilot house, galley, and cabin. ;o))
