Title: I hit the tour next weekend!!!...
Post by: Frank O on May 18, 2003, 04:00:00 AM
This is not related I guess to Ukrainians but I DID get the job!!!! I go on tour the weekend of the 24th. I was supposed to start 2 weeks from this weekend but the temp guitarist backed out so I HAVE to step in & sink or swim!!!!
I will be having meals, hotel, gas paid + of course my pay for playing with her. I'm a VERY happy camper. Unfortunately my trip has had to be postponed for now for OBVIOUS reasons!! LOL!!!
The girls all seem to undestand though so that is cool.

I've met met Chris Perez (Selena's former husband) but when I arrived at the audition they thought I WAS Chris Perez. Apparently there is some resemblance. I guess us long haired Latino's all look alike.

one of the FIRST things we were told was "don't even start to ask for free tickets or backstage passes for family. It's NOT going to happen. This is a business". Oh well. I thought THAT was pretty tight or a tightwad. I'm not sure when we play Dallas. I know we'll be In San Antonion & Houston within the next month I think.

you would have NO peace -- everybody would be hitting
you up for tickets.  Now, it's a no brainer!
Your friends are your friends, and the leeches
can buy their damned tickets or stay home.
Their rationalization may be business but
it is good policy generally.

I guess I'll find out soon!!!! They run a real tight ship. No smoking or drinking on the bus. Absolutely no drugs ANYTIME & NO GIRLS in the hotel rooms. However the guys said not to take the GIRLS part too seriously it happens but NO to everything else. Today I was at a supermarket waiting in line & I picked up a copy of the Latin version of People (People Latino) & they had a list of 25 sexiest Latinos & Jennifer was on there. So I'm standing in line reading the small article on her & people around don't even know I'm her guitar player. Oh well. Pretty weird I have YET to meet her!

Just interested, sounds, well, I dont know. Is it a big bunch, little bunch, big Mobs or whatever? Or, is it a compulsory lifestyle thing, a necessity for one to be involved?

Look forward to any enlightment.

Best wishes to all, with or without *groupies*.
John

A term used for a specie of fans who are loyal to any particular performing "group" or person. This can be one person, hence groupie, or plural, groupies. The Grateful Dead probably has had the most infamous bunch of groupies--ever---some traveling for thousands of miles and months at the time just to see the band perform no matter where they played.

Yeah, and a lot of these groupies, are female, young, beautiful and totally oblivious to the fact that they might be taken advantage of by band members.  Thus Frank O's excitement at the prospect of groupies ie. beautiful young things.

From an old Frank Zappa song actualy encourging the groupies to, well, perform 'groupie' acts with him and the other band members after the show: "You know, it doesn't bother me at all that you're only eighteen years old"

Sorry but I don't think that will happen. When they went to record the new cd the producer Rudy Perez & Santender did NOT use the band. They hired their own studio musicians to do it. Which I think was a smart move actually. So I think the next cd will be even MORE international & less Tejano thus they will follow the same formula. Basically we are a cover band at this point I guess! LOL!!! We learn the material & play it.

NOt sure I just know he has made a name for himself as a promoter. I'd like to know who did the guitar parts. I'm one of those that likes to know who did what on ever record.
