Title: K-1 Visa Fee Change Post by: Jski on February 05, 2003, 05:00:00 AM [This message has been edited by Jski]
I'm sending our Visa in today and just looked at the INS website. It seems they changed the fees: $81
I just called the INS and verified this. They said that since the Department of Homeland Security is taking over the INS, they asked the INS to no longer charge the surcharge and hence the fee reduction.......Yippee! join the club of waiting a long time for your visa to be approved. some centers are not even working on K1 visa's. California service center just updated their dates to 235 days for a K1, and as of now, their not even working on them. Title: Q: Does 235 days represent total time from beginning to end? My fiancee will graduate in July and we hope she will be able to come then. We filed at the end of December, so it has been five weeks so far. From the end of December to the end of July is somewhat close to 235 days. My questions is: Is the 235-day figure accounting for the entire process, from initial filing and then receiving the K-1 visa? Or does it just cover until the approval of the 129-F, after which she needs to get her physical exam, police docs, and thereby continue with the process, which takes a few more months. Which is it? Does anybody know? Is it 235 days, or a few months beyond that (close to a year)? Thank you, Scaught Title: Re: Q: Does 235 days represent total time from beginning to end? Usually the figure they give is just a WAG as to when you can expect your PETITION to be approved by the service center (plan on another 2-3 months for the Embassy to do their thing before you get an interview date). Hopefully they err to the worst case senario. That way if it gets done ahead of schedule, you're happy...RIGHT? Holy Sh!t, 235 days, that's incredible! Hang in there, Dude. My heart goes out to all you guys that are going through this BS right now. I remember when when I filed all the guys going through the TSC & NSC were crying about 120-180 day waits. That doesn't sound so bad given that they aren't even attempting to process the 129-Fs now and not saying when they will. Well, if I were you, I'd plan on making a couple more trips over to visit 'cause if you don't both you and she will go nuts. You guys definitely need to contact your Representatives and raise some H$77! Sorry for the bad news :^( Title: Thank you very much for the info! n/t Post by: Scaught on February 08, 2003, 05:00:00 AM Title: TSC, not working on K-1 since 9/16/2002 Post by: TomTx on February 05, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to have a long wait!!!!!!!!, posted by mudd on Feb 5, 2003
Some have heard some haven't. Texas service center has not touched a K-1 since 9/16/02. They are working on TPS cases. My congress person said they would start again at the end of Jan., I called today and now she says March, that ?ucks There is a protest being organized to picket TSC in two locations, Dallas and Mesquite TX on Valentines Day. To read more about this V-Day protest go here. Looks like we need to pull out the can of woop-as? On TSC.
