Title: Questions About Using Pc Inside Russia... Post by: RickM on December 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM Questions about some computer use from inside Russia:
-Does anyone know if any of the downloads like yahooo or msn and aol type instant messangers will work for talking over the pc from usa to russia and vice-versa?Of course that's assumining both sides have microphones and speakers... -Anyone aware of any downloads like the old "dialpad.com" that used to work for free from the internet cafes and home/type pc's inside russia to make computer/telephone calls to usa?Last time I was in Kyrgyzstan I use to call USA from the internet cafe there for some ridicolous cost of about 1 cent per minute. They had it set up so that all you needed to do was dial the area code and number and you got an immediate connection to the telephone that you were trying to call. The quality was a little fussy and delayed but it did work... FWIW-We been using Nobel.com calling cards lately and they have been working fantastic...Russia - 5.9 cents p/minute "no" connection fees and crystal clear immediate connections. Thanks in advance everyone and great to see the board has been somewhat civilized lately... ))) All you single guys...get you butts out there and find your lady...Life is going by you..... """"""FWIW-We been using Nobel.com calling cards lately and they have been working fantastic...Russia - 5.9 cents p/minute "no" connection fees and crystal clear immediate connections.""""" When you throw in the other charges, it comes out to be more like 8.5 to 8.9 cents a minute. Which isn't to bad, but the 4 minute billing increments suck.. One can do better if making some short calls.
