Title: AOS Nightmare in Miami: All appvls FROZEN!
Post by: JohnG on December 09, 2002, 05:00:00 AM
We had our AOS on November 15th by a not-so-pleasant officer in Miami. She didn't give us the approval that day, because they wanted my wife and daughter's vaccination records on a particular supplemental form. Later, we received a new appointment date for today, with the request for the official form to be signed off by a civil surgeon. I thought we didn't have to do this within one year of our K-1/K-2 medical exam in Moscow.

Today we returned to the dreadful INS in Miami with our vaccination records in the sealed envelopes as requested, only to find out that our interviewer didn't come into work today, and no other case worker could see us. When asked why we weren't called, they said "we don't do that." Plain, cold, rude, and simple.

But more importantly, the Supervisor I ended up talking to informed us that NO APPROVALS WILL BE GIVEN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! She did not give us a reason why, other than to say it ws mandated by the US government, and she refused to put anything in writing for us. No one there would commit anything to writing. AMAZING what they get away with.

Now I have no idea what to do. Does anyone have any information about this?

Sorry John, I dont have any info except that kate and I are still waiting --  so far it is 11 months since we applied for Aos without getting an interview. So--- perhaps things have gotten bogged down by the post 9/11 syndrome. I dont know... but try not to worry about it... it wont do any good... and my guess as well as hope is that it is just a delay and nothing more then that... I really dont think there is anything to worry about... if you are honest with your self you probaly figured as I did after the 9/11 thing happened it would slow the process down... but you are legally married... she isnt I would bet any kind of threat to national security.. so Im betting it will work out in the end... I know sometimes I get a bit impatient with the process too... but hang in there buddy.
