Title: All my bags are packed.......tess Post by: Stephen on March 16, 2002, 05:00:00 AM i'm ready to go. After 14 months in America, it's time to head home to visit family and friends. Now I can eat all the food that I missed like balut (hmmm yummy) and lots of Fish heads (LOL). I'm leaving March 18 and Stephen will join me on April 5.
I'll keep you posted. It is good to our taste buds... Yummy!!! I've been looking for our kind of mango in Manila here in Hawaii. So far, haven't found one that's fits it exactly so I have to settle for a different type but still is a mango. Mary, Here in San Diego, we have several types of mangoes from Mexico, South America, & Hawaii. According to the Filipinos I know, the closest you are going to find here are the ‘Manila Mangoes’ from Hawaii. They aren’t nearly as good as what you have in the Phils, but as my wife says, “they’re better than nothing”. Of course she was spoiled because they have several large mango trees at her home in the province, including Carabao & Cebu varieties. I like the ripe Carabao type myself. What my wife misses most are real Philippine papayas. With all the great tropical fruits that you have in Hawaii, I think you can also find some good substitutes for mangos. Has Chris introduced you to a Hawaiian Mai Tai yet? Ray Title: Re: Mangoes Post by: mary324 on March 27, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Mangoes, posted by Ray on Mar 21, 2002

Tess, I could have sworn that you have been here for at least 16 months :-) Anyway, after 14 months in America, your poor stomach may not be able to handle all those foods you miss. Better take it easy, especially with the kinilaw. And don't forget your Pepto Bismol chewable tablets. Take 2 before every balut! Have a safe journey, Ray Title: How Time Flies! Maybe I should send Stephen my "Temporary Muslim" and "Get Out of Abu Sayyaf Jail Free" cards if you're heading further west than Cagayan. ;o))) Have a Great trip! Good luck Tess and have a great trip. Think Stephen will be able to hold down the fort without you? I doubt it. We men turn into lost children when our sweeties take off on us for more than a day or so after being married for a while. I'll have to drop him off a care package. Maybe some sushi :o) -- Jeff S. of reminders for Stephen. After 14 months of being together he became very lax. He knows nothing about what's happening at our home (LOL) |
