Title: Anyone Know What's Become of Jay's K-1 Site??
Post by: Dan on November 29, 2002, 05:00:00 AM
It seems one of the old 'stand-by' websites has closed up shop. The site at warsaw-visaguide.hypermart.net appears to be closed.

Anyone have any insight as to what's up?

- Dan

Your e-mail was a couple of weeks back. Are the 'wheels' of government turning OK for you?

Why of course!  I'll return to my tasking on Monday until the end of year.  Can't pass up that easy per diem money.

Will definately learn some Italian in 2003, maybe some Moldovan or Georgian, as well a few other dialects.

YOU ARE going to give me a 4.1% pay increase in January, too.

Thanks :)

Like the Russian anti-commie Ayn Rand probably would have said.  It is wise to be selfish with your money verse, work for free for the state.

If Americans weren't financially selfish - I want this, I want that... where would our economy be.

In a all volunteer military ya gotta have some financial backing, Bush Jr.  Knows something about that, under the Clinton adminstation people were getting out of the military in droves, why?  Because the civilian sector pays was at 3 times as higher than the military.

"Bush Jr. knows something about that......" Wrong! He just threatened to veto the entire DOD budget if "concurrent receipt" was included. I'm certain you know what that is. You're a reservist aren't you? Bush also will not allow reservists to receive retirement pay/benefits at age 55 vice the current 60. (House bill HR3831 and Senate bill S2250). Do your "homework" before making such ascertions! Next topic...... many of your posts concern MONEY! You are obviously obsessed with it. I trust you realize that marriage, especially with an FSU lady will set you back a few bucks. How's your tomato growing buisness going? Still planning vending machine routes for Kiev? LOL! MtMav. I know alot of people in your paygrade who are making some groovy money 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year.  Like me, I've already done my 2 weeks for 2003 and the really sweet thing is like starting Monday, I'll do 29 days extra.

Of course the pay is getting better, per diem yea that too, but ya know the real icing on the cake is the fact that I signed up in 1979, so I'll be getting a really sweet retirement when 60 rolls around (I got out and he-hawed around some).  Seven yrs active, and now 7 yrs reserve + plus many more to come... I'd like to do 30, if those bi-annual PT don't wear out my body...  Us sailors airdales, ya know aren't into climbing up ropes, doin pullups and wearing out our bodies.

What did you do in the Marines?

STOP talking about money........ it's SERVICE to our nation; not MONEY. You DO have an annoying obsession with money! It doesn't "make the man!"

But it was probably your MOS that held you back, most folks I know who are in that grade have made it on or about their 12th year of SERVICE.

Say, were you that Marine that went to Donetski in June of last year that we met in the cyber cafe in Kiev ?  Downstairs near that jazz club...  I could have sworn I saw you at the River Palace a few nights later. ;)

The tomatos are going stronger than ever...(Wal-Mart buys them $1.50 they've said they'll buy all they can get)

Now I'm venturing into Lettuce - Romaine, Butterhead & Loose leaf, I've check with every grocery and resturant in my area and they said they'll be glad to buy locally & Fresh...Last year in California they had a bummer crop and prices skyrocketed.  Might happen this year, if not that's ok..  This is an easy crop which matures much faster typically 30 days and about 75 days with tomatos - all grown hydroponically.

This is a cash cow, turn on timers and fill up the nutrient tanks for a weeks worth of watering... Go play sailor on the weekdays and come home on the weekends for havesting.

Tell me what Russian girl wouldn't like to be sitting in a greenhouse fiddling with tomatos or lettuce in 70 degree heat while watching the snowflakes fall in the middle of winter?

Did you do your 20 years?  I'm on my 14th in the reserves will tack on E6 in December.  Still got plenty of time to move up...  I am designated as a early promote as I'm no sluff when it comes to workin, will take the test for Chief in Febuary.

Bush Jr. Rejected the Fed employees 18% hike, but they'll still get a 3.1% hike in January...(per CNN).

Ya know I didn't botter writing my congressman for that 55yr retirement, because the way our gov't is spending money on the War on Terrorism.. fat chance on them really creating a decent entitlement for reservist.  But if you read the Navy Times, they'll be posting in the next future issues my recommendation on a tax-free id card, navy times called me up and requested my permission for a release on that info so they can publish..
