Title: need advice
Post by: landscaper on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM
gentlemen i begin to write some ladies after reading everything on planet love board. it is quite a lot to read.

one girl i really like and she is a beautiful woman. i want to think she is real. i have some concerns about her last letter and thought i would ask what some of you thought.

first letter

Hi!
I am very glad, that you have written to me and my questionnaire has not remained without attention. It is very pleasant, that you have rendered me attention by the letter. I shall be brief and I hope, that I shall interest you.
I live in city Kherson, Ukraine. I the student and future journalist. At me a christmas vacation in my university soon will begin and I would like, that it was the very unforgettable vacation in my life. I the very interesting and cheerful man, my close friends speak, that I beautiful. I natural brunette, at me a long direct hair and light-blue eyes. I perfectly prepare, there can be a good friend and interlocutor. Unique(sole) my lack (I consider(count)) - not absolutely good knowledge the English language, but I to study it(him) and now, when I write you this letter, only occasionally I use the electronic interpreter ...
I have dream, for the sake of which I have placed the announcement in the computer. I very much want, that on this vacation in my life there was a unforgettable travel. You can me invite in the visitors to yourselves in the country? It would be perfect time for us of a two?
The truth, is a condition: we should test sympathy to each other (and consequently we need to exchange some more photo), and also you should pay to me the ticket on tourist visa. In general(common), if you my offer, step behind you ... Has not frightened
In life there should be a romanticism, you see I am right?
My kiss to you and wish of good luck.
Viola

second letter

Hi,!
I write you from the new address of electronic mail, because old mail sometimes poorly works also disappears (vanishes) and does not come. It is very sad.
I want to you at first to tell about me and my family, that you learned(found out) better me and you had few questions. I the simple Ukraine girl, which was born in very beautiful and perfect city Kherson. I here studied at school, and when has finished 10 classes of training, де I now study - already on last, fifth, rate. In one year I shall receive the diploma about my maximum formation(education) - I there will be a professional television journalist.
I take off one room in a municipal apartment. Here, in the apartment removes a room my girlfriend, which studies in one institute with me. Here again in an apartment with us the owners арендодатели - husband with the wife and child live. So you can present, what life at the Ukraine student.
The boy of the friend at me is not present. Time for personal life too. But it would be very desirable to find understanding and friendship. It can be simple those people, which surround me, me not interesting? I always wanted to have the friends in the beautiful and interesting countries - such, as yours. I can therefore and has thought: suddenly miracles exist on this planet? If I shall place the announcement in a site of a network, can be there will be a man, which will become interested in me.
I романтик also believe in miracles. You can invite me in December. I to have an opportunity to make student's visa through university is will be $quickly(fast) and is cheap. If you pay to me of visa and cost of the tickets, I shall come to you to any convenient number in December: in any Saturday - 8, 15 or 22 numbers. You can choose convenient time, if you really want to see me.
Please, I very much believe, that our meeting is held. If you want, that I have arrived, you should inform me the name city, airport, number - that I have made the order the ticket and still you should cover the expenses on a road. What will tell? A course behind you.
Yours faithfully, Viola

that you even had to ask such a question after reading those letters. People seem to believe that R/W's plight is so bad that they simply will do anything to leave the homeland. So much so, that they will ask a potentional husband to pay for visa's and airline tickets after only one or two letters? Did she look like a model in the pictures? I bet she/he/it did! Probably becasue the pictures used were of a model and not the the real "viola".

I suspect that real, sincere, honest women from FSU have more integrity and honesty to them than that. I would suggest to you that this is purely a scam and move onto the next woman. By the way, you should be prepared to receive a few more of these letters before you find the "right one". There is a lot of truth in the saying "a fool and his money are easily parted".

If it walks like a duck........!  She is already asking for money to travel on a VISA she can't get. You have to be kidding. Just in case, you might email her back and tell her it is imposible to get her a VISA without previously meeting. Why would you want to do it anyway. All that money for a maybe. You would be smarter spending your money on a plan A,B,C, and D - in Ukraine.

1) Invest in a new keyboard (they're cheap enough).
2) Save your money (to maybe travel abroad before the summer season starts.)
3) Keep posting..things will happen.
What did she look like in her pictures?

landscaper ,

I think you already know the answer to this one ; you've been checking this board and the RW websites for a little while . This really smells like a scam ; if it were me I would definitely pass on this one and move on ...
She's already brought up the subject of money ; and pretty early on at that . That usually means trouble.

But let's consider for a second that she might actually be legit ( which is highly doubtful ) : The fact that you've posted here for advice means you've already got some serious doubts about her sincerity , and a few other issues as well . Ask yourself : Is that a good foundation to build on ? No .

There's lots of other beautiful ladies out there , landscaper . You can do better than this . Don't get discouraged , just move on to the next one and try again .

Good Luck

my 2 cents

you got to be kidding!!!!!!!! if you fall for this, you realy need to do some more homework. this girl would hook up with anyone who is stupid enough to pay for her visa and plane ticket. not to sound like a cold hearted jerk, but you sound like the perfect guy who goes over there and gets hooked up with the first girl who says "yes". you need to keep looking.

I was just teasing with a couple of guys as we have been discussing this exact thing of late.. ;-)

If these are her first and second letters to you, you must see that she cannot be legit right??  Asking for money in the first letter, claiming it's a cinch to get a student visa??

You see, these are the things you need to really become very well educated about before you go there at the first of the year, and you can become quite well educated rather quickly.
I don't know where you are getting your addresses from, but you might try joining a few like Absolute Agency that are on the net.  You pay like 19.95 a month for unlimited contact.  There are some nice girls there (I certainly met some my last trip), but it is also full of scammers.  If you write to a bunch, you will learn very quickly how to spot a scammer without even blinking!  ;-)
I really do recommend it, you will learn a ton.

Delete all of her messages, delete all her addresses, forget her, and move on to next lady.

to be true.  And it probably is.  You can send the money and you can await her arrival.  Bring a couple books to read.  Or she/he can score on the dailey double.  'Cuz probably she will need $356 for the visa.  And then again,  theres the trifecta...uuummm........its your money. You can't possibly beleive that drek she/he wrote.

just in such a good positive mood.  Its so easy to see he's being conned,  by a very old and simple one designed for the niave.  Again,  a little generous.  Actually,  gloves-off...anyone so stupid to beleive any of that krap deserves what they get.  A little research goes a long way, methinks.

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained"!  Here is the perfect chance for a guy to not have to do any work but just send for a girl who wants to come and let her show up!  ;-)

But if you want my advice, I will give it again-

NEVER SEND MONEY TO A WOMAN YOU HAVE NEVER MET IN PERSON!
Of course it would truly be ridiculous to send this woman anything..

If you want to meet a woman- plan carefully, go there, and do your homework..

My 2 cents.

Yeah never send money to a woman you don't know or met, but spend 1500 bucks to get your asx there and back on a possible zero sum gain.

Insurance really can be cheap given the right circumstances, and right frame of mind.

Hope you read my last post on the "citizenship" thread  (probably archived by now).
If it were possible to have had my wife come visit me on a first time visitor visa, I still don't think I would  have done it that way. She was a likely candidate if this indeed does exist from Ukraine...a good looking (divorced) lady?
Svetlana was a professional, studied in microbiology, a director of the regional milk product supply in Odessa..has property there...a grown son etc..left it all for me...and she is a keeper.
Seems to me anyway, that one doesn't send money for airline tickets but rather ..orders them by airline reservation.
Also remember that the US visa (which natuarally comes first) is good for 6 months.

Suggest you visit her first, if not in Ukraine, then in Budapest, Larnaka, or Istanbul.  In these places you don't need a visa, and she can get one with ease.

Pay for my visa and airline tickets is an old, big time, all or nothing (big $) scam.

But....you know best!  Carefully, well thought out, slowly, slowly, is a good approach.

Good Luck.

to be a journalist in Ukraine ?  That is like the curse of death for a job.

The mere fact she signed it "a kiss and GOOD LUCK to you", is like the writing on the wall.

I really think, if you really want to meet a girl you must go there and create a dialog with one.  This whole notion of them being a backwards society is getting old.
