Title: need advice Post by: landscaper on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM gentlemen i begin to write some ladies after reading everything on planet love board. it is quite a lot to read.
one girl i really like and she is a beautiful woman. i want to think she is real. i have some concerns about her last letter and thought i would ask what some of you thought. first letter Hi! second letter Hi,! Title: Re: need advice Post by: AndrewinOH on November 08, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to need advice, posted by landscaper on Nov 7, 2002
that you even had to ask such a question after reading those letters. People seem to believe that R/W's plight is so bad that they simply will do anything to leave the homeland. So much so, that they will ask a potentional husband to pay for visa's and airline tickets after only one or two letters? Did she look like a model in the pictures? I bet she/he/it did! Probably becasue the pictures used were of a model and not the the real "viola". I suspect that real, sincere, honest women from FSU have more integrity and honesty to them than that. I would suggest to you that this is purely a scam and move onto the next woman. By the way, you should be prepared to receive a few more of these letters before you find the "right one". There is a lot of truth in the saying "a fool and his money are easily parted". If it walks like a duck........! She is already asking for money to travel on a VISA she can't get. You have to be kidding. Just in case, you might email her back and tell her it is imposible to get her a VISA without previously meeting. Why would you want to do it anyway. All that money for a maybe. You would be smarter spending your money on a plan A,B,C, and D - in Ukraine. Steve Title: Free advice.. 1) Invest in a new keyboard (they're cheap enough). 2) Save your money (to maybe travel abroad before the summer season starts.) 3) Keep posting..things will happen. What did she look like in her pictures? Karl Title: Re: need advice Post by: don1 on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to need advice, posted by landscaper on Nov 7, 2002
landscaper , I think you already know the answer to this one ; you've been checking this board and the RW websites for a little while . This really smells like a scam ; if it were me I would definitely pass on this one and move on ... But let's consider for a second that she might actually be legit ( which is highly doubtful ) : The fact that you've posted here for advice means you've already got some serious doubts about her sincerity , and a few other issues as well . Ask yourself : Is that a good foundation to build on ? No . There's lots of other beautiful ladies out there , landscaper . You can do better than this . Don't get discouraged , just move on to the next one and try again . Good Luck my 2 cents don Title: Re: need advice Post by: mudd on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to need advice, posted by landscaper on Nov 7, 2002
you got to be kidding!!!!!!!! if you fall for this, you realy need to do some more homework. this girl would hook up with anyone who is stupid enough to pay for her visa and plane ticket. not to sound like a cold hearted jerk, but you sound like the perfect guy who goes over there and gets hooked up with the first girl who says "yes". you need to keep looking. I bet she will let me send her money to come over. I will write her and prove it to you . I was just teasing with a couple of guys as we have been discussing this exact thing of late.. ;-) If these are her first and second letters to you, you must see that she cannot be legit right?? Asking for money in the first letter, claiming it's a cinch to get a student visa?? You see, these are the things you need to really become very well educated about before you go there at the first of the year, and you can become quite well educated rather quickly. Title: You have read enough on these boards Post by: juio99 on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to need advice, posted by landscaper on Nov 7, 2002
to already know the answer . . . . right? Delete all of her messages, delete all her addresses, forget her, and move on to next lady. JR Title: Next Post by: Bobby Orr on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to need advice, posted by landscaper on Nov 7, 2002
Move on to the next girl you like who has written you. This is most probably a scam. Title: Maybe sounds just a little too good... Post by: tim360z on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to need advice, posted by landscaper on Nov 7, 2002
to be true. And it probably is. You can send the money and you can await her arrival. Bring a couple books to read. Or she/he can score on the dailey double. 'Cuz probably she will need $356 for the visa. And then again, theres the trifecta...uuummm........its your money. You can't possibly beleive that drek she/he wrote. Tim, you're more generous than I am - I don't even think it sounds good. What am I missing here? Bob Title: Yeah. I was a tad generous, I was Post by: tim360z on November 08, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Maybe sounds just a little too good...., posted by robobond on Nov 7, 2002
just in such a good positive mood. Its so easy to see he's being conned, by a very old and simple one designed for the niave. Again, a little generous. Actually, gloves-off...anyone so stupid to beleive any of that krap deserves what they get. A little research goes a long way, methinks. Title: Hey, some guys here would say "go for it"! LOL! "Nothing ventured, nothing gained"! Here is the perfect chance for a guy to not have to do any work but just send for a girl who wants to come and let her show up! ;-) But if you want my advice, I will give it again- NEVER SEND MONEY TO A WOMAN YOU HAVE NEVER MET IN PERSON! If you want to meet a woman- plan carefully, go there, and do your homework.. My 2 cents. Title: Ouch! ;-).... Yeah never send money to a woman you don't know or met, but spend 1500 bucks to get your asx there and back on a possible zero sum gain. Insurance really can be cheap given the right circumstances, and right frame of mind. Title: LOL! Hope you read my last post on the "citizenship" thread (probably archived by now). If it were possible to have had my wife come visit me on a first time visitor visa, I still don't think I would have done it that way. She was a likely candidate if this indeed does exist from Ukraine...a good looking (divorced) lady? Svetlana was a professional, studied in microbiology, a director of the regional milk product supply in Odessa..has property there...a grown son etc..left it all for me...and she is a keeper. Seems to me anyway, that one doesn't send money for airline tickets but rather ..orders them by airline reservation. Also remember that the US visa (which natuarally comes first) is good for 6 months. Karl Title: Re: need advice Post by: Globetrotter on November 07, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to need advice, posted by landscaper on Nov 7, 2002
Suggest you visit her first, if not in Ukraine, then in Budapest, Larnaka, or Istanbul. In these places you don't need a visa, and she can get one with ease. Pay for my visa and airline tickets is an old, big time, all or nothing (big $) scam. But....you know best! Carefully, well thought out, slowly, slowly, is a good approach. Good Luck. to be a journalist in Ukraine ? That is like the curse of death for a job. The mere fact she signed it "a kiss and GOOD LUCK to you", is like the writing on the wall. I really think, if you really want to meet a girl you must go there and create a dialog with one. This whole notion of them being a backwards society is getting old. |
