starting a personal ad campaign first and leave the buying of addresses to the amateurs. Basically, you're going to wind up spending up to $1000 on addresses to find enough decent girls to justify a trip over. The personal ad campaign will get you better results with less time and cost. You may have to write more replies to your ad, but isn't it better to reject some of these girls rather than have them reject you? -blm Title: have you done what you suggest? Thanks for the info, but how would I start with a personal ad campaign? I don't mind writing letter and replies, but where do I begin? Title: Re: Re: I would consider... Post by: BarryM on October 30, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: I would consider..., posted by AndrewinOH on Oct 30, 2002
An reliable agency such as Firstdream.com does ad campaigns. You call Jack at 214-878-9260 and he will explain it to you in a manner that makes complete sense. From there, you can use his service or find some of the newspapers on your own. There are a few you can order ads on a fairly low cost but you have to create your own ad copy in the proper Russian language. What I suggest it you should work with Jack and create an ad campaign with the proper translation. Later, if you choose, you can use the ad copy with minor modifications and place ads yourself on various Ukrainian and Russian newspapers. You will have to set up your own Russian PO box when you conduct your campaign without an agency's assistance. -blm Title: Re: Re: Re: I would consider... What were your results? Title: I did mine in Bulgaria.. Post by: BarryM on October 30, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: Re: I would consider..., posted by AndrewinOH on Oct 30, 2002
I had fairly good results in Bulgaria. My ad was in 3 magazines but the ad copy was not that great and it was not translated into Bulgarian. I was not well informed of the strategies of personal ads when I began the campaign in 2000 but I did receive about 70 responses before my subscription service expired. I still get the occasional email from a couple of girls in Bulgaria. My knowledge of this business has increased greatly since then and my plans are to conduct several very targeted campaigns in certain areas. Since I understand Russian, I have a much larger choice of women to choose from. -blm Title: Re: I did mine in Bulgaria.. To each his own. I spent $100 on 10 addresses. I wrote to my girl for 9 months before meeting her, and have now met her 3 times. I wrote to many, and told her I was doing this, and she continued to write. So...........what others have said, I agree with, in that what works for some may not be right for others. Good luck to all. Title: I spent $100 Post by: BarryM on November 01, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: I did mine in Bulgaria.., posted by Globetrotter on Nov 1, 2002
I signed up for an online service that included personal ads. The price went up, so I decided to do something else. -blm Title: what were the end results? Post by: KenC on October 31, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to I did mine in Bulgaria.., posted by BarryM on Oct 30, 2002
Barry, As you are professing that this is a proven method to meet your future bride, what happened in your case? If over 70 women responded favorably to your ad, why is it that you never met any of them? Were none of them any good? What went wrong? KenC Title: Ken, it's a small world... I recently hooked up with the local Bulgarian community in the area. Some of the girls I corresponded with may already be here because they had relatives here. There are some angles I'm working that are rather unconventional that most folks don't have access to but is more suited to my current situation. I'm not going to give details here because it's not workable for anyone else and I stumbled on this by accident. I'll find out more this weekend. -blm Title: Re: Ken, it's a small world... Barry, I'm thinking a lot like Ken: "As you are professing that this is a proven method to meet your future bride, what happened in your case? If over 70 women responded favorably to your ad, why is it that you never met any of them? Were none of them any good? What went wrong?" I don't want to hear about your potential drilling profits should a hypothetical gusher come through.... Barry, Gives us a damn break, dude - what's with the cryptic (Cyrillic?) message? Sounds a lot like an Amway solicitation. If I gather up 10 of my best friends and plant them in my living room will you please be the guest of honor and share your money making secrets with us all? normally I like your posts but this one makes me wanna shoot guts on my keyboard. No offense. Bob Title: It's an Orthodox thing, Bob.. Post by: BarryM on November 02, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Ken, it's a small world..., posted by robobond on Nov 1, 2002
I've been doing some networking in my area with the local Slavic community. It's something I've been working on for quite a while now. Let's just say that I'm working on different channels and I'm getting the "inside" scoop on things. Since things are still in the works, I don't have any reportable results but my motives are more than just finding an FSU bride. -blm Title: Re: It's an Orthodox thing, Bob.. Barry, Let's just say that you are declining to answer Ken's original question and my follow up of same, "As you are professing that this is a proven method to meet your future bride, what happened in your case? If over 70 women responded favorably to your ad, why is it that you never met any of them? Were none of them any good? What went wrong?" Given that fact, WHY? Barry, the more you talk, the phonier you sound. There's nothing wrong with just saying, "duh, I don't know but I'll get back to you." Instead of that you go waltzing all over Texas with your BS answer - it's dumber than a box of rocks in my opinion. I'm gonna wax out of here and you wax on - got no energy to follow this with you.
