Title: Ironic... Post by: tfcrew on October 23, 2002, 04:00:00 AM Info media such as History Channel, Discovery, A&E etc. reports how dependent Russia is/was on a military economy.
Today...Bush requests an additional $34B for defence. In the meantime, those of us who have paid into the Social Security system can't even collect our own money. Something's very wrong here and it's getting worse. Title: Consider this... Post by: BarryM on October 23, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Ironic..., posted by tfcrew on Oct 23, 2002
The West was only 2 business recessions away from losing the cold war back in the 70's and 80's. In twenty years, the United States faces a much more dangerous arms race with China. If we don't keep on our toes, the Communist Chinese will have to ability to neutralize our offensive capability and overwhelm our limited defenses. They also will be able to economically isolate us and control 2/3 of the world's natural resources. Every dollar sent to China is helping them defeat us. The Chinese are very dangerous because they are extremely racist and nationalistic. Think NAZI Germany with 200 million under arms, the ability to project power worldwide, and fully offensive NBC capability. I'm more than happy to see tax dollars going to build more offensive and defensive weapons. I say build more nukes. Socialist Security has alway been a pyramid scheme. -blm Title: Re: Consider this... Sorry I don't agree, we have plenty of nukes..... how many more times can you kill all the humans on a planet??? We were never in danger of losing the cold war, only completely capable of mutual destruction......China isn't going anywhere, their afraid of even taking Taiwan back.....I just hope that part of that 34bn goes towards a nice pay raise for our men and women in the armed services.... [This message has been edited by tfcrew] Wiped out financially.. with morale somewhere out on deep space nine in the meantime.. what's left to defend? Yes, China will be involved in a global conflict maybe sooner than we think. [This message has been edited by Lynn] Payment of social security benefits fall under the catagory of "political promises" upon which Congress can renege at any moment. The only "beneficiaries" who have "legal" grounds for claim of benefits are those who the Congress has already made appropriation for and then only for that fiscal year. And we all know we can trust the gummit to follow thru with it's promises, just ask any American Indian. Doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy? |
