Title: Another "Rosy" View of Kyiv (from CNN this time) . . . Post by: Dan on October 16, 2002, 04:00:00 AM Nicely-done article about the changes in Kyiv. It really is a beautiful (and emerging) European city.

Perhaps... a bit rosy picture... but from my short stay in Kiev(4days) before I left for my trip further to the south... I found Kiev to be very lovely, on par with several other cities in Europe... in my subjective view it ranks up there with stockholm and london... actually maybe better then London... but only my opinion... Perhaps I went there not expecting alot and was very pleasantly surprised... for a visitor who has never been to this part of the world.. it is an exotic delight.. the churches, the architecture... for you newbies enjoy!!! I think it depends... What do you look for in a city? If you are looking for things like Broadway shows, or movies, or interesting street life... then Kiev is a bad place to go. But, if you like a city with a soul... then I think Kiev is great. It has architecturally interesting buildings... It is geograhically interesting, and it offers an amazing exchange rate that makes everything accessible. The food there is excellent and the prices better than I have seen in almost any other major city I have ever visited If you like nightlife such as discos, and lounges, I think you are in luck, also. And if you prefer your theater more classical, there is usually good opera, ballet or orchestras to be found. So... I agree with you, I was pleasantly surprised with Kiev. I thought it was MUCH better than --say-- Sao Paulo, Brazil... which is a sprawiling city with no soul at all... just endless boring cement and steel. The best part of Kiev was that I could live like a king there, and not break the bank. Like the one guy told me: "The only problem with Kiev is that it is surrounded by Ukraine." If this city were anywhere west of Germany, people would be flocking there... Kiev is ok, nothing to really rave about. From what I saw it was just a old city on a hill... yawn. And like someone else posted, their are not alot of women walking around is sexy dress.... Maybe just a few and they're a minority. Like these photos of Russia, they're quickly looking more and more like a city in western europe. Gee, it just seems to me, most of the women trying to leave these countries now are very skilled women, who for the most part are probably over achievers and just want to come to the USA anyway they can. Whether it's by telling your the greatest guy they've ever met and so there after dumping you for a financial paycheck. Clearly, most of you guys know I'm not a rocket scientist or a Attorney or a engineer. But the kind of women who I seemed to be communicating with lately have a agenda, and will use anyone to achieve results. Seems that bridge everyone has been talking about for finding the perfect girl, as she must live in a little town off the beaten path. http://www.russiajournal.com/misc/slide/ Title: Re: Re: Here are some pictures of RUSSIA Post by: Globetrotter on October 17, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Here are some pictures of RUSSIA, posted by wsbill on Oct 17, 2002
