Title: What's the hurry?
Post by: donb2222 on March 11, 2002, 05:00:00 AM
I am the first person that made a post inquiring as to what Mark was thinking when he posted that he is now engaged.
Yes, age is an issue, but if you reread my post I hope that you will see that I mainly was trying to encourage him to get to know her and her country more before he makes the biggest decision in his AND her life.
There are no guarantees in life.  But, I have always suggested that people go slow in deciding who and when to marry. What's the big rush?
Why is it so bad to take your time?  Most of us have 30 to 50 more years to live.  Why is it so bad to spend a few months to a year making sure that you choose the right person to spend the rest of your life with?
I, for one, think that divorce is a terrible thing.  What is so bad about taking your time to make sure that you and your children do not suffer through a divorce?  In my opinion a divorce is one of the worst things that a child can go through.  Of course there are circumstances where a divorce is necessary, but why not choose the right spouse so that it is never necessary?

Anyways, I have always encouraged people to take their time, and I will always continue to do so.  No one can predict whether a couple will be successful, no matter the circumstances.  But again I ask why should people be in such a hurry?

Thanks,

Don

FWIW, I'm with you and the rest of the "go slow" club. Big surprise, right ?

May God bless these guys who throw caution to the wind and "follow their heart" after a brief romance. It may or may not work for them, all I know is that I wasn't built that way....

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary....

Regards, Tim

Yeah...What's the Rush???? Doesn't make any sense Marrying a Child at such short notice. I Doubt strongly that she knows what Love is all about. The stupid thang is to get a Foreigner pregnant like I did....:o(

Hi Greg,
 Thanks for the compliment :0))))
But, it is probably best to let Patrick continue at ruling PL.  He gets my vote as one of the most patient people ever.

Take Care,

Don

I usually don't say much because I am new to this board - but I have to say something now. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW YOUR HEART!! I dated my ex-wife for seven years before we were married. She was still a vergin on our wedding night so we were not living together. We had a dating relationship for seven years. I thought she was the one! She wanted to be sure I was the one. It took me seven years to convince her :) LOL. We were married for 13 years before she filled for a divorce. I loved only her and my three kids they were my world.  So no matter how sure you are today - people and things change. Nothing goes by the book. You have to go with what your heart tells you to - today and hope it works for the next day, week, month, and years!

I to have meet someone much youger than me. I knew her for "3" days and I asked her to marry me. I hope to be in Cebu this month or next month to bring her here. When I told my three kids about Lizel they said Go Dad!

So GO MARKUSA!!!!

Been there done that :c))
