Title: Any experience with Transaero?
Post by: Griffin on September 06, 2002, 04:00:00 AM
Supposedly they have super cheap flights.  They pop up on Travelocity if you indicate "my dates are flexible" but when you start selecting dates none are available.  Same with Aeroflot so I think they're not keeping their data current in Sabre.

I can't find either airline's flight schedules on the internet.

I will be flying my wife and step-daughter from Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Houston.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I assume you are planning on flying them into NY. I know Transaero used to fly into LA, but dropped their schedule. One thing I know is they have never had an accident. I guess you know they have an office in Tashkent?

Uzbekistan Airways fly between Tashkent and New York (JFK) with a refueling stop in Kiev.  I have priced their flights a couple of times and found them competative with other airlines, including the extra ticket to get to/from JFK.

The reason that I have not flown them is that they do not have luggage forwarding agreements with every airline. (In other words, you may have to claim and recheck your luggage in New York for your continuing flight.)

Title: Thanks.

That's probably what I'll wind up doing.

I would rather use Houston as POE, but I'm concerned about them changing airlines in a non Russian speaking area.
