Title: Russian women can't give their addresses Post by: Marinka on August 22, 2002, 04:00:00 AM Russian women do not have right to give their addresses to a man they correspond with…
What do you think about marriage agency, which introduce women, but then they DO NOT recommend woman to write address or e-mail to men in letters (they scan e-mails!!!) and they promise to pay women 50 $ when she’d “collect”50 $ (=25 answers). If woman would write her address in her letter, her information would be deleted from the site… I’d like to know opinion of American men. I do not understand your note. You say, "they promise to pay the lady $50 when she'd "collect $50 (=25 answers). If the lady gets the money how is the agency making any money? I agree that it would be preferable if the ladies could and would find a service that does not employ these methods. To be fair though, if the agency makes it clear to both parties, the ladies and the gentlemen requesting the addresses, that this is how they charge for the listing and communication services I do not feel we have the right to complain. After all these agencies are in business and they do deserve to make a profit from the service they provide. Of course if these fees are "hidden" or misrepresented than the agency deserves a place on the "Blacklist." I have been very fortunate to have met some very wonderful FSU ladies from "free" listings. I assume that the ladies had to pay something but I never asked them about it. I am older than most of the fellows who are looking for brides so my experiences may not be relevant for all. I used a very nice agency also, I was able to get her phone number from her. Then by phone she gave me a friends phone and email. Who was able to translate letters for me at mere 3.00 a letter. I think if a girl wants to break away from a bad agency. All she would need is the guys email address, then go to some other agency to start corresponding with him. I usually don't respond to what I might refer to as a 'virgin thread'..(newcomer posts where I have no positive output). Jack, Dan, and KenC are good at filtering some of this. Svetlana sent her home address along with her very first email. Then, as we started writing steadily, I helped her with a very reasonable monthly internet translation/service fee.. $20 as I recall. It is called,...scam..fraud! It is the sign of an agency that has it's own greed in mind and not the well being of trying to find a husband for there client. Any agency that will not allow it's ladies to give there home address should be avoided. However there are many sincere ladies who un-knowingly get involved with such agencies, so what is a guy to do? Get the ladies full name and dob during the course of the first few letters, get the city she was born in and the city she lives in today. If a guy can get this information it is possiable, to the extent of about 80%, to get this ladies address. Then you say to he11 to the agency! Of course, most American men think that this goes against the idea that the agency is trying to help the woman find a man. It sounds like the agency is only interested in making money on the woman. But there are agencies which do not operate that way. The woman would need to find a new agency... Title: Does it make us wonder? What's harder...finding the spouse or a good introducer ? I started my search actually in the Asian theater. For $5 a crack or $25 for 6 contacts A Foriegn Affair sold addresses that were definitely bonifide. Nothing ever clicked there for me though. One day, out of the blue, I received an email from a woman who would become my wife. Kind of like a crap game...you roll the dice and you take your chance ;) Karl Title: Re: Does it make us wonder? Yes... I was in Brazil when my Ukranian beauty found me... I had given up on the FSU. However, I did have an ad up on some sites. Proving that although it IS a crap-shoot... you can't win unless you are in the game... Title: "Reasonable risks"... A current thread over on the Latin board by Tim (Darkstar). Take a look. Seems he got cold feet about going to Columbia and was chided by the agency for his concerns. Seeing recent movies like "Collateral Damage" and "Clear and Present Danger" could pose a question about safety there. At least in Europe, they don't know what a "gringo" is ;) Title: Oh my! Wow... I hadn't read the Latin forum since I posted my Brazil Trip report some time ago. Amazing! I think Darkstar is operating with common sense. I would make the same decision he did. My favorite was the response that claimed one agency promises: "Your Safety is Guaranteed or Your Money Back!" That is so stupid it's funny... "Oh, you got kidnapped and shot? Well... here is your $500 back." Thanks, I feel so much better now about my decision to go to Colombia... |
