Title: HEY -- what's a room go for in Kiev?
Post by: MarkInTx on August 15, 2002, 04:00:00 AM

I just figured out that I have enough FF miles to get to Kiev for free.

Add that to the fact I am about to lose my daughter for a few days anyway, and I am thinking of slamming in a quick trip to Kiev. (Yeah, I admit, I miss her...)

It would be Aug 22 - Aug 26.

Jack, et al. What is the going rate for a good flat in Kiev???

(I'll need to do this FAST!!!)

Mark, $50 to $55 for nice one bedroom ON Kreshaytk or with-in 5 minutes walk.

Does the rate change "off-peak?"

Would it be less in September than August... or October even?

Well Mark, in November, December, January and February you can get some lower prices, usually about from $5 a day, sometimes up to $10 a day cheaper, BUT you have fewer flats to choose from as many people do not want to rent there flats in the dead of winter. Traveling to there country home during the winter is something few of them have any interest to do.

You may have enough FF miles - but unless your uncle works for the airline's FF program (and probably not even then), the likelihood of you finding a FF seat for a trip 2 weeks hence (and during the late-summer peak season to Europe), is pretty slim indeed.

If you *do* happen to find that seat, the rates shouldn't be any more than $ 50 to $60/day for a nice apartment near Kreschatyk in downtown Kyiv - much less if you want to get one in the East Bank or other outlying area.

I am sure Jack can fix you up.

Getting there was easy... getting home was tough because of Labor Day...

So, I'm going to have to regroup, and plan for later, I think.

She has a birthday in late September, I may shoot for then.

For 3 days I'm sure you could get one through my old interpreter for probably $30-35.  A NICE flat!  3 Minutes drive from Krishatic street..
