Title: Nebraska processing time was updated today. Post by: MNKenr on August 13, 2002, 04:00:00 AM As of today Nebraska is processing I-129 petitions dated 5-1. That is 105 days out. I hope it only gets better in the future.

If you look at the web page, it says that these are results "as of 7/31"! It is now 8/14, so I take that to mean that as of 7/31 they were working on petitons dated 6/1. They should be further along now if that is the case! I hope so! Title: Re: Re: Nebraska processing time was updated today. Oscar look again. The last sentence said the section was updated 8/13/02. It is a little confusing, but the NSC section was updated 8/13 and not 7/31. The 7/31 date was to reflect the last 'report' NSC gave the lawyer. The 8/13 date reflects the latest updated processing times. I called NSC today. For a petition with a notice date of 5/1 will be assigned an officer 'soon' The officer will then process the case and send out a notice. The second notice can reasonibly be expected for a 5/1 case sometime in the next 1-2 weeks. So the date they give you and the date on the web site is still not the date they send out the second notice. It is about two weeks behind that date. Now we are looking at 120 days between frist notice and second notice, in addition to the overseas consulate timeline. For what it is worth. The rep I spoke with this time was a little more helpful than the rep I spoke with last week. He answered my questions the best he could, and I did not feel pressured to get off the phone like I did with the woman I spoke with last week. Also the rep today had no idea what a provisional file is. I got the idea that he felt once the approval was done at NSC the process was 'complete'. I do not think he had any idea there was still a few months left overseas. He did mention that they have officers working overtime to process cases, but I was not told what cases were being processed. Also since March there is an additional background check done at the service center. That will delay the entire process another 2+ weeks. Not sure why Vermont does not have a similar delay. I have a feeling wait times will only get worse in the future before they get to the levels they were 2-3 years ago. MNKenr Title: Re: Re: Re: Nebraska processing time was updated today. Just some comments on an excellent post: 1. The INS (Dept of Justice) may see the application as complete when it issues the K-1 approval. The approval is then sent to the embassy -- Dept of State. So the desired process of getting your fiancee here is not complete until both hurdles are jumped. 2. Warsaw may open a provisional file. Moscow will not open one. Moscow will not start any action until they get official notification of visa approval directly from the INS service center. I was reading in the news groups. I read that nebraska did not process anything for 3 weeks to upgrade their security/equipment. I don't know if it is true, just what I read in the groups. It may help to explain what happened. And may point to them getting back on track. Where are you getting the updates from might I ask? Calling them or is there a site? dex Title: Re: Re: Nebraska processing time was updated today. Well that will explain why they did not process one petition for at least 2 weeks when I called them last week. I recieved my information from the following website. http://members.aol.com/MDUdall/sctimes.htm. MNKenr |
