Title: New look
Post by: Patrick on August 08, 2002, 04:00:00 AM
All the forums are being converted over to the new design to match the rest of the site.

Patrick,
What is it with your changes to this site and the others?
You have made some good changes, but I see many of your changes
have made the navigation of these sites less user friendly. This most recent change why?
Look how small the print is for the forum topics?

An observation only!

Title: Font size

Yes, the font size for the subjects has been reduced.  There's less horizontal room for them so I wanted to reduce the size they took up.  The messages themselves are the same size though.

I thought that navigation would actually get easier since everything's categorized now.  Maybe it just takes some getting used to for people who are accustomed to the old navigation links.

As for why the change-  I thought the old style looked really garish with the bright blue color.  It was also not displaying well in all browsers since I had to cheat a little on the HTML standards to get the effect I wanted.  I think the new format just looks more "professional" than the old.  It's all just a matter of taste.  I'd like each new design to look a little better than the last.  I don't even remember what it looked like before the bright blue design I just replaced

on the left.  It makes me think that main topics are indented and are subtopics.  I guess it will take some time to get used to.
