Title: Advance parole question Post by: RRH on July 02, 2002, 04:00:00 AM We would like to send my step-son to Ukraine in 3 weeks but I understand advance parole can take 45 days. Anyone have experience getting it faster. And what is the best reason? Ill relative? And also, what does it look like? I mean is it attached to the passport, or a seperate document? Any help would be appreciated.

Is in a separate document. It is a piece of paper with her photo glued to it. It is embossed but still looks really cheap to me. In any case it took just about 40-45 days to get this advanced parole back from the INS. If you really are in a bind, the Baltimore office of the INS will issue advance parole immediately if you show up in person. There is no residency requirement, you just have to physically show up. To get it quickly, you need to go to the local INS office in person rather than applying by mail. No reason is necessary other than that your stepson is visiting relatives, etc. It is a single-page 8-1/2 by 11 document, good for 1 year (good for any number of visits). Does he have his own passport, or is he in his mothers'? I he does not have his own, he cannot travel out of the country without your wife. I think the time factor depends on which INS facility you use.
