Title: AOS Appointment Reschedule Post by: RfB on July 03, 2002, 04:00:00 AM Good News - We have an appointment for the AOS interview, Bad News- I am one day into a two week training session 300 miles from home. INS center in Newark NJ just says show up with the forms and additional medical documents at the appointed time, or it's rejected. No phone number is listed to call if you can't make it, just show up or it's gone. To add more insult to it, my office according to my county is in Cherry Hill NJ , which is easier, and safer to go to,and we have been to for the fingerprints and EAD card. So the question is,,, WHO can we call to reschedule the appointment?

According to the National HelpLine, I can send a letter to the Newark office stating that we can't make it at the appointed time, there is no phone number listed or given for the office. Based on the lack of response given from our inquiries in the past from this office, and the importance of that day, I think I'll be doing a lot of driving on I-95 that day, miss a day of school, and spend the day talking to a INS officer who should see that we are a very happy couple. I wouldn't expect that your interview will last more than 30 minutes at the most. It's pretty anti climatic after the wait to get the K-1, the Embassy interview, and the filing of the AOS application. Good luck! Interesting... We rescheduled our AOS because my wife had tickets to Russia. The AOS interview form itself had a place on it to request a reschedule. So all we did was send the form back to the INS office. I would have thought these were standard forms. RfB, We rescheduled our AOS appointment and it was rescheduled 60 days later. I am sorry that I cannot give you the details of how it was done because our attorney handled it. We were literally days from the 2 year aniversary, so we rescheduled to skip the "conditional" status of the green card. I had my local service centers phone # and called them and told them that the week that I was scheduled was the week that we were moving into our new home and there wasn't any problem. All that they asked was for me to send them a letter explaining the circumstances. Of course we do live on a different island than our service center and I think that they realize that traveling between the islands isn't that convieniant. And unlike others expieriances, our service center has always been helpful, friendly and easy to deal with.
