Title: 1st Attempt with Russian women and last...
Post by: Bob101 on June 18, 2002, 04:00:00 AM
I said to myself..." Self?", before you decide for sure that a Latina is the way to go, "don't you think you should take a trip to Russia and meet the ladies there?"...I thought...hhmmm...they look so beautiful, most have higher education, seem to be interested in serious relationships...why not start a litle correspondence, and possibly go in a month or two.

My first step was to be immediately scammed. Then, somehow, I tripped accross "Black-list" sites, how not to be scammed sites, read these sites and asked...with this much deciet (some 40% of the women and agencies), lies, problems for access to the country, distance etc., why would anyone REALLY be interested in pursuit of such unknown?
Man...at least you can hop on plane with ease and be in front on Calenas within a few short hassle free hours and be sure the woman IS the woman you corressponded with etc.

I'm sorry guys...good luck to you...I just don't see that the risk of $$, emotional energy etc. outway the reward for such a dishonest system. It is fraught with problems too complex to go through for a woman you couldn't possibly get to know in a resonable time AND RISK marriage with her. GOOD LUCK GUYS...I'm back to the Lovely Latinas!!

I've spent about three years trying Colombia and can now speak Spanish.  I have been to Cali and Bogota.  I have given up and decided to try Russia again where I can meet beautiful intelligent women.  My summary of whats available in the agencies of Colombia is as follows: (1) Cali - lots of young women, overly exposed market peppered with scammers and jaded women, although the young women are pretty they aren't as good as what I see everyday in Los Angeles, (2) BOGOTA - lots of professional women, they would probably make the best wives, but they are all homely looking.  Regretfully I have decided that I cannot pursue Colombia anymore because the quality just isn't there to make it worthwhile.  I have been to Russia once and they have a large selection of women who are both intelligent and beautiful.  Those are my judgments, but I don't think there is any correct answer and you could find a wife in Latin America or Russia.  And I think that finding the right women is a process of meeting as many women as possible until the right one comes across your path.  And there will be luck involved when it happens.

I avoided the scamms by staying off the instant message type web sites and avoideing the women that asked for money OTher than translation fees. I stayed with in my age bracket and looked for a profile of different likes and interest. The coomon thing is to hear I like sports, travel, Pets and family. These typical sayings are somtimes associated with scammers. I looked for a girl with more of an original saying. I have worked many years with spanish People and found that many of the women  come from the latin areas and marry then leave after they are here and this also goes for some russian women. Rick

Bob,
I agree with Mark below that the scammers are over blown for some reason.  Many of the sterotypes are off base with Russian or Latin women.  Like RW are docile and quiet while Latin women are hot blooded.  LOL  My blond blue eyed wife must have some hidden Latino blood in her some where!!  Seriously, that is why there are blonds and brunetts, so we can have our choice!  Best of luck to you.

That is not true they have different eating habits than we do and I know quite a few poeple that have come here from the european side of the world and they are still not fat and this is after many years of being here.  It is our eating habits that make americans fat. We eat in big portions quite quick and eat all the real fatty stuff first. If you look at how europe eats they eat salads and fruits before they eat the main course. Which leaves less room for the bad stuff in the belly. Hence thinner. No pork , I am testament to that I am still the same weight as I was in my low twenties and right on track for for height and weight according to the medical field. Rick

I've heard some guys say that when the woman first comes over she does gain a little until she gets used to the large portions here...

Dunno, since mine isn't here yet.

I mentioned the "freshmen 10" thing to Victoria and she asked: "And how much is acceptable?" she asked me. "Is it OK if I weigh twice as much as I do now?"

I wasn't sure how to answer that one, to be honest... And that really made her laugh.

"I will not gain any weight!" she said. "I will simply work out more."

Easy to say, of course... But one thing she has going for her is that she eats a LOT slower than I do. I was always waiting for her to finish her meals...

And I probably should learn her pace. I know I eat to fast. And eating slower lets you feel full sooner...

When I was visiting my girl in Moscow I stayed in her flat.
Each morning she made breakfast it was the same thing...porrige (oatmeal) and each day we had bread with cheese and kilbasa and fruit for a mid day meal. She was always feeding me...seemed like all day.The evening meal was always different but she preferred fish or chicken, always pan fried and served with fruit and a type of salad. I ate as much as I could...it was strange, I lost weight but not that I tried to. When I returned home, I gained it back quickly, not because I porked out...I figured it out a few weeks after my final visit. When I was in Russia, anytime we went someplace it took 2 hours to get there and back...just to go to the grocery store...2 hours minimum. We were always on our feet, standing...waiting for the tram...or walking to metro..riding metro standing..walking back to her flat....always walking or standing. My feet were killing me!
When she invited me to her family datcha..she said we will take the train and walk through the forest a short way....she did not mention that it was a 5 mile walk, each way! She says...lets go for a swim at the river near her datcha....the river was 2 miles away!

When my wife first came here, she noticed the larger portions of food in the restaurants...she liked the "doggie bag" idea of bringing back half of her meal to eat for lunch the next day. But...my wife found sweets very tempting...and she enjoyed icecream with chocolate syrup and the cakes and sweet pastry. Yes, she has gained about 10 pounds...but on her it went to her breasts,(smile) so I am not complaining. I do not think she will blow up..she likes her clothes to fit, and does not want to by more because she gained a few. So she backs off for a week and curbs her desires for sweets to get back on track

You will probably get growled at...

My wife looks forward to her "leftovers"...it is a pleasure to see her all excited (smile) ..she does like American food though...especially BBQ ribs and Chinese food. She tells me that a Chinese restaraunt in Moscow is very expensive...we have 3 very good ones a short distance from my home, and each time I volunteer to buy dinner...she has her favorite one to choose...all three!

First let me say that I really I enjoyed your post...

It reminds me of the story of the guy who was the greatest woodcutter on the mountain.

He is in the general store one day and the shopkeeper shows him a new Chainsaw.

"Buy this," he told him, "and you can cut ten times the wood you do now!"

The woodcutter was impressed and bought it.

A week later he is back and throws the thing on the counter in disgust.

"Take this back. It is useless. I can't cut one half the wood with this stupid thing that I can with my axe and saw!"

The shopkeeper is amazed. "Maybe this needs adjusted," he says. "Let's take it outside and test it."

They go out back and the shopkeeper pulls the cord, and the saw roars to life

The woodcutter is amazed.

"What's that NOISE?" he asks...

Moral:

... and some guys fail because they don't ask for directions before they start...

Something is not making sense here at all. If you have done your homework then you know that all MOB regardless of where you go has risk. Does going to the FSU pose greater risk?  You seem to think so but, I am not so sure. I think that there is just more written about it.

Where do you get your information that there is less risk with Latinos?

You say you do not need help from those who have not done it? So, you are saying that guys who have gone over, met several women with one or more trips over a six to 24 month time frame have nothing to offer you ---- yet you got scammed? Hmmmm.

Maybe the whole MOB thing is not your cup of tea relative to risk. I personally do not think, but can not prove just that you can not prove the opposite, that going to the Latin American countries is going to provide any less risk. I will agree as I mentioned before that more has been written about the FSU scammer which very well mean nothing.

I would like to have to you return to keep us posted regarding you new direction and how it turns out for you.

Are you up to that? If not, good luck to you and may your non future FSU days be scam free

But I think that the whole scammer problem is a little over-blown -- most scammers you can see coming a mile away.

And with Latinas in Texas, I have a different problem: Once here, there is no guarantee that they will assimilate into the "English" speaking society. They can stay "Spanish speaking" forever, and I was concerned that this could cause a lot of stress in the family...

But, there is certainly nothing wrong with the Calenas!

Good luck in your search, wherever she may be!
