There was one site, then called the Den of Immigration, that had a very useful item-by-item checklist. It is now at:

JR, Looks like you have some pretty good replies and answers below. I know that Rags developed a pretty good cover letter, the one that Oscar just used, and I think Oscar is sharing that with a few. As I am sure Oscar would like to help others with what he has recently learned and went thru, I think he would send you a copy if you ask him. For the most part of you guys will use Jay's Warsaw/Visa guide or Doc Steens site, you will see and fine everything you need. There are however a few shortcuts that they do not know about, although I have shared some of this with Doc Steen recently, where one can save on average about three weeks on the whole process. I think Oscar went into a few of the things brifly one can do to shorten his wait time with Anastasia a few weeks ago. Date 6-02, archive 00168, middle of the page, subject title....Sending ALL the documents at once for K1!!!??? by Anastasia. Message reads, ........Guys, especially Oscar, I actually hear this for the first time etc, etc. This Anastasia, not Alyona. Title: Jack, LOL! I couldn't figure out who you were talking about! nt Post by: Oscar on June 12, 2002, 04:00:00 AM Title: Re: Hey Jack....Do you have a checklist for Post by: Oscar on June 11, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Hey Jack....Do you have a checklist for, posted by JR on Jun 11, 2002
Have you checked any of the web sites yet like Doc Steen, etc..? There is a tremendous amount of help available on these sites with example forms etc.. O I have, but none really have a checklist. Example: one site says: one pictured together another will say two with something Russian in background. One will say : one letter of intent another says two. etc. Some guys do an overkill with extra stuff that is not needed also. JR, If you want to list your email address, I will send you my table of contents if you would like. Ed Ragsdale sent me his and it was the most helpful thing I found in putting my stuff together.. It was really helpful to have a model to go by for me.. But you need to know that my girl is in Ukraine, not Russia, so there may be some small differences.. Let me know.. would you mind emailing me the list? my email is in my profile. What I am really looking for is an estimate of how long it takes to fill out the forms from start to finish, ie 3 weeks 1 month whatever... Richard, Again, I cannot give you an exact time of how long it takes because there are too many varying factors! Take a look at the Doc Stten web site, look through the instructions, see what you think because you are the only one that knows the status of your girls situation and abilities. I will email you my content page to give you an idea what I sent and you can decide who long it will take the 2 of you to put it all together. You can submit LESS than I did for the K-1 if you wish, but the word is that it will end up costing you more time if you do the minimum at the beginning.. So I did it all! LOL! Once you have all of your fiance's papers and ADIT photos...the rest is a piece of cake. Downloading all of the forms and filling them out should take a few hours, not weeks? My biggest problem was making sure I spelled everything correct from my fiance's information...I must have misspelled her street address wrong on three different forms, that is why I loved the on-line forms...easy corrections! What's an ADIT photo? Title: Re: ADIT? Post by: SteveM on June 16, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to ADIT?, posted by MarkInTx on Jun 12, 2002
Most photo shops here will do them correctly if you ask for "Visa, not passport" photos... Title: Re: ADIT? Post by: Apk1 on June 12, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to ADIT?, posted by MarkInTx on Jun 12, 2002
Welcome to the world of INS beauracracy! ADIT photos are of a peculiar size, with a 3/4 pose making sure your ear is shown. Some have said they used passport photos, but the rules say to use the proper format. The INS website has a copy of the rules for this picture...you will need 2 copies from her and 2 of yourself also. |
