Title: Questions about Ukraine Airfare Post by: MNKenr on May 17, 2002, 04:00:00 AM Hello all. I know this topic comes up often. I tried to look in the archives for useful information, but I was unable to find anything. I am planning another trip to Ukraine (Odessa area). My usual travel agent left his office with no forwarding phone number for me, and has not returned any of my messages. I guess he is not hungry for business.
On to my question. Can someone suggest the best way they go about getting tickets to Kiev or Odessa from Minneapolis/Chicago. Maybe give me your travel agent phone number. It seems to me that airfare is now over $1200 for the same trip that cost me $775 las fall. In addition to that it looks like LOT Air cut back some flights. I would like some ideas on how to get airfare to Kiev/Odessa for the $800-$1000 range. Thanks again, and I know this topic comes up about opnce a month! :-)

The return could be giving you trouble. You may want to try searching between say Warsaw and your US destination first. It looks like the flights from Odessa get in after the flights to the US have left. So the search engines are not finding connecting flights on the same day. Maybe the people at LOT could cut you a deal that lets you stay overnight in Warsaw and leave the next day. Otherwise, you make have to make 2 seperate reservations. Let us know what you end up with. -Bill P Title: Re: Questions about Ukraine Airfare Post by: Stan on May 17, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Questions about Ukraine Airfare, posted by MNKenr on May 17, 2002

Texas to Kiev was about $900 on American. It was a strange flight, tho... connected through Gatwick London on American. Then Ukraine International Airlines from Gatwick. Best I found. I found it on Expedia originally, and then called American Directly. They didn't show the flight on their computer. (All they had were flights through Frankfurt) Once I gva ethem the connections, they found it in their computer for less than Expedia had it. Go figure. Anyway, that's what I found when I was looking... (You cna take a train to Odessa...) Title: Just Checked it Myself, And . . . For travel in June July and August, the fares are at their 'peak' as it is high-season (I opted to redeem air miles as a consequence of the high fares right now). Shoulder season, and slightly lower fares will start in September and run till October - after that, you should be able to find flight prices in the $700 to $800 range once again. Perhaps you can try some of the last-minute bargain fares available on the internet - but you must be VERY flexible with your travel dates and times. Even then, I cannot recollect anyone on the board having actually taken a trip with one of these services. Sorry I cannot be of more help. - Dan |
