I'd like to gather an average of how long the INS period takes...

Can you guys help?

Under this, please post how long your K1 process took, where you filed (which consulate, etc) and whether your wife had kids. (I'm wondering if that makes a difference in the process.)

So, if you can just post something like:

"6 months, Texas, No Kids"

Or whatever else you think might be relevant under this post, it would be great. (You know... whether you used a lawyer...time of the year you filed... that sort of thing)

And, just so we can add up the totals easily... please, don't anyone else counter post under this thread. I just want to gather some data that I think might be interesting for all. I'm just curious to see whether any patterns emerge

Vermont Service Center

Used Lawyer
Wife arrived here 7 days after interview
Married 2-1/2 months later
Married 2-years, 2-months

Move to vermont to get all your paperwork, aos.. etc done, then move back home!  Could be a new industry... aos cottages for rent!  Lol!

From California: 45 days from petition submittal to approval,45 days from approval to interview date in Moscow.
She arrived with child 10 days later 9/27/01
No lawyer needed although some assembly required *smile*

Hey now,

Here is the basic data, plus a few extra things thrown in:

Met my no-wife on the Internet around Xmas 1999.
Wasn't looking for a wife, let alone a Russian one, at the time.
Just thought it would be interesting to talk to people in other countries after my son went to bed, so I clicked on Russia.
She wasn't looking for a husband, and had sworn to her friends that she would never get married again.
But her friend who did want to meet an American man said it would be a great way to have fun and learn some English.

Went to meet her for the first time in April 2000.
Filed the I-129F in May at VSC
Approved after one RFE in July
Moscow Embassy interview letter July 31
Interview mid-September
Landed here (with her son) one week later
We were married Nov. 5th
Filed AOS mid-December

Got fingerprint notice April 2001
Interview notice July
AOS Interview in Baltimore August
received green card October

Mother-in-law got tourist visa on second application Feb 2002 (took lots of Congressional help)
She returned home last week

Tonight is our 18 month anniversary.
Our kids have done great with each other, and we like being with each other more and more all the time.
Wish my family had been better about this,
but everyone else has been very cool after meeting her and seeing us together.

We were going through the Nebraska service center. we sent our application at the end of november 2 weeks later I got the first notice of action of December 13. Was approved March 22, recieved interveiw and visa May 15 in Moscow. Wife flew here on August 9th married on the 13th sent in AOS papers and had her interview and green card stamp done in Columbus Ohio about 3 months later.( if you count recieving the actual green card in the mail that was an extra 2 month wait) From the day I mailed our I-129f to the green card interview we're looking at a little over a year and it could have possibly been quicker if she had came here the day after her Moscow interview.

My wife's visa was immediately issued when she applied for it in Moscow.  As it was for a student visa, we didn't go through any INS center.  We didn't use an attorney for the visa but did use one for the AOS.  (No kids)

We waited approximately 4 months for K-1 approval through Nebraska.

Her interview in Moscow was approx. 2 1/2 months later.  It took Moscow another month to issue the visa because of a problem with her police record (I posted about that last summer).

My wife's teen-age son came with her on a K-2.  We did not use a lawyer.

My wife is great, her son is a typical teen-ager, and I hope that Congress abolishes the INS.

30 days for the I-129, filed in Vermont.
Warsaw interview date 4 months after that.
Met her in Warsaw for the interview.
One child, no lawyer.
Married 1.5 years, I feel like the luckiest guy in the world!

apx 3 months, Texas, 1 child.
Also, Warsaw, 3 months between 129 approval and interview.

Okay, Like I said before my memory is not always good... Kate tells me it was more like 2 months from the time I put for the 1 129 and we were informed of our interview date... I remember putting in the paperwork the end of June and getting word about it around the time shortly before 9/11 in New York... I was paniced and tried to get the interview date as soon as possible ... the first week of Oct...in warsaw...

by the way my wife just pulled her first beets out of her garden and made me sliced beets with sunflower oil, lime juice and salt... frest out of her organic garden...yummy,

Sent the petion to Nebraska INS in late Oct. 2000,, approved Valentines Day 2001 and she went to Warsaw about 60 days later. A K-1 and a K-2 for her son. Tanya is from Crimea. The 24th of this month, they will have been here for a year. WoW, time flies when your havin' fun!   :)

2 Months, 21 days, Texas, No Kids, No lawyer.

This figure is from the date I sent in the original I-129F until we were approved at the US Embassy in Warsaw.  My fiancee is from Ukraine.

K1 & K2 issued 11/14/01 (Warsaw) - CSC approval in 13 days - Total time 3 months 1 day - no laywer.
