Title: Ukraine
Post by: Bobby Orr on April 10, 2002, 04:00:00 AM
Is it just me, or are the majority of the posters claiming to be scammed - scammed by Ukrainian women and not Russian women?  The more I read about where a person was scammed from the more I go back to Ukraine (especially Lugansk and Kharkov).  The more I look at disreputable sites I see Ukraine.  The more I look at "scammer" girls the more Ukrainians I see.  The only time I was dealing with a girl who took me for a chunk of change it was a Ukrainian girl.  However, could it be that there are more agencies in Ukraine and therefore more scammers there?  Am I just personalizing my bad experience and therefore justifying my move back to Russia to look for a wife?

Right now on the marriage sites it looks to be about 20% more women from Ukraine, so more women, more scammers.  On this board, you've had a lot of guys bring back Ukrainian women and that made many others focus on women from Ukraine instead of Russia because the other guys had success there.

The one definite scammer I've had was from Russia.  She complained how poor she was right from the begining and asked for $500 right away so she could meet me in Turkey.  That scam was so obvious it was a no brainer.  The girl from Latvia that asked me for money was probably just pissed off because I went out with another girl on her day off.  She asked for money but didn't go through with taking it.  Another Latvian girl I talked to that had been a European model told me about how she had taken engagement rings from 10 men, all over 2 carats.  She also visited 45 countries in 2 years.

Maybe they are just more organized in Ukraine but I got my schooling in Moscow, FWIW.

Of course most of my problem was that I bought into the agency/tour hype hook line and sinker. I can't say that I have any real regrets though as in retrospect a good time was had by all ;)

They might claim this as paranoia but I believe it is possible that an organized network is behind over 50% of the con artist there. They control the internet cafes and other ammenities an agency offers. Just my opinion of course.

How every I do think a vast amount of the agenies are linked together, like one of the American Agencies and will promote itself as several different businesses.  The front of the store is different, but in the background it's the same place.
