Title: On K1- Lawyers get them here 4-8 wks faster? Post by: Oscar on March 27, 2002, 05:00:00 AM On the "Russian Ladies" website, they say that an attorney filed K1 gets a girl here 4-8 weeks faster than if I do it myself.. can this be true??
I looked at the I-129F from, does it really have to be done on PINK paper? Are you kidding me? I have to go out and buy PINK paper for my printer?? Thanks, Title: Re: Total B.S. I'm a lawyer, and I disagree with the statement that having a lawyer will speed up the process. The key to speed is what INS center you are filing with, Vermont being the quickest, and whether all of your documents are properly organized. It took me 13 days to get the final approval of the K-1 from Vermont, but I didn't tell them I was a lawyer. Title: Re: Also..... I think that now almost all forms you can download right off the internet including the I-129F form. You don't have to have the pink copy if you download it from the internet unless something has changed since I did my visa back in November. Title: Re: No Way!!!! It sounds like a load of bull to me. I did my K-1 visa in 2 1/2 months. (From date filed until she had her interview and came home with me.) Of course I had a lot of help from many here on P-L board. I would only use an attorney if I had some special circumstances that required extra legal help in order to get through. You should be able to do the K-1 visa by yourself with no problem but you should do your research and dot all your i's and cross all your t's. Even an immigration attorney here in lexington told me he did not know half the things I had knowledge of when filing the K-1 visa. He even offered to pay me as a visa consultant to help him with fiancee visa cases but as of yet he has not called me so I think he was maybe just full of it. In any case I would almost always recommend to do it yourself. It will save you tons of money and get it done in just as quickly if you stay right on top of it and don't leave any slack. I must admit that nearly everything I learned about the K-1 visa process, I learned right here on P-L board. Many thanks and just goes to prove how valuable this board really is. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Title: Re: On K1- Lawyers get them here 4-8 wks faster? Vermont is known for doing the k-1 in a short time. As for a lawyer doing it any faster that is a big lie !!!! You can waist time (2 weeks or less)and have the INS send you the paper work, or you can down load the I-129f, and the 324A from the INS web page. You don't need anything but regular paper. The 324A is supose to be sent to them in a set of 4 identical copies, I've heard of people getting their approval after sending in one copy, but to be safe just print out 4 for you and 4 for your fiancee and fill them out 2 at a time with carbon paper. Also print out the directions for both forms and read them. I had my approval in 8 days going through the Vermont service center after doing the K1 myself. It did not work out with the girl but I can not imagine a lawyer working any faster. Lawyers usually sit on the paperwork you send them for some period of time. Approval for Moscow interview approximately six weeks after I received the letter - eight days after I mailed it. Title: Correction Post by: Bobby Orr on March 28, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to NOA, posted by Bobby Orr on Mar 28, 2002
It took two weeks to receive the notice that they recieved my packet. Eight days later I received the approval of the packet for the Moscow interview six weeks later. So, 22 days total (throw a weekend or two in and it is still within a month) - but this was done through Vermont. Contrast this with NSC's performance. It took them about 22 days just to send out an acknowledgement that they had received my petition. And another 110 days to process it. It's like living in another country! Title: Wow!!! that sure was fast. Call the INS and get them to send you a packet, full of forms you need. The use a typerwriter to fill it all out... because of the multip-layers of forms and carbon. |
