My experience after running adds in Kiev and Lugansk was that I had a great response, over 30 letters, some by mail and most by E-mail. The draw back was that it seemed I got a lot of young women from Lugansk respond. I think there must be a ton of young women like under 23 that are in this city. (Just not my cup of tea) The women from Kiev that responded were much more critical asked all sorts of questions much more then from Lugansk, that is good but also make it tuff. (I feel Kiev women are more experienced about international dating)
All in all everything was positive for the most part I think I only got two potential scammer and they were easy to spot. What running these adds have done to me is really wear me out. I got to the point that I really didn't feel like writing anymore. Just no interest no mater how good looking or charming. Again I am burned out on all this. I have my ticket for May and I am sitting on a big "Zero" as far as ladies to meet. Today I have none that write me and I am not writing to any. Just no more motivation after some 2-1/2 years of playing this game. I am not depressed about it I just think that maybe I have learned or read to much about all this that it has effected me in a negative way. First, a question : Relative to your lady from Lugansk that you bank rolled for a few grand -- whereby things did not work out - did you ever put her into a category of scammer or shades of grey of such? I mean it is easy to have friends when you let the cash flow like water when they are not used to such if you get my drift? Anyway, I understand how disappointing that experience was for you and, that certainly can take the wind out of your sails. I know, I spent a lot of time and a lot of money on one lady and well, it just did not work out. It was a big waste of time, energy and funds. My enthusiasm has still not returned since that concluded last May. I am not giving up on all of this but, I simply like you do not have the enthusiasm to deal with all that writing etc. to try and find the right lady among the masses right now. I started writing to several ladies after that disappointing situation but found that I just did not have the focused interest. Because of this, I quit writing to these ladies however, one lady would not let it drop and thus her and I are writing still. This has now lead to obligation of meeting her. But, like Oscar said in his trip report, the one lady that he thought that there would be chemistry with - there was zipo, nada, none. So, I know that it would be wiser for me to meet as many women as I can. So, you have a trip scheduled for May and nothing planned much. My advice is go and meet many women if you can. Take the effort to set something up. I thought you said that you were going to meet a lady in Germany? But Ryan, time is running out. You need to take action now. Ryan, LP's post regarding persistance is great advice, but let me give you a different point of view to think about. You appear to be quite the obsessive type to me. It is all or nothing for you. My suggestion is to just cool it a bit and dial down your energy level in this process. Date AW and have a life without your dream to find a Russian wife. Look at all alternatives. I see too many guys here that put all their eggs in one basket. It is as if they MUST find a Russian wife as no other woman would do. This type of desperate attitude is very obvious to people and especially obvious to women. You just may find what you are looking for if you just don't try so darn hard. I think your statement about you "playing the game for 2 1/2 years" is incorrect. The game has played YOU for 2 1/2 years. Best of luck to you. Ryan, push your trip back one week, go to Houston, see this really great AW for you, catch a ride to Dallas with BarryM (unless of course I am really BarryM as Drew has claimed over 70 times the last three months), go to this really nice big Bar-B-Que where you will see what it is like to meet a lot of wonderful, sincere Russian women, and then we'll take you to DFW airport where you can catch your flight back home. Hey Jack, Actually I am not just flying to Houston for this AW. I will be interviewing for a job and will probably end up moving down there. I have familiy in Dallas and Houston areas. Ryan, Over 90% of the people who will attend this event will probably have no knowledge of Planet-Love. This Bar-B-Que/pic-nic is a get together that started 6 years ago by a handful of people just hoping to be able to meet other local single men who were in the pursuit for a Russian bride and for local married Russian women to meet other local Russian women. It is nothing more than a form of networking and helping local Russian women to meet other local Russian women. And at the same time I expect there will be about 10 single men there who are involved with the pursuit for a Russian bride and each of these guys will meet other men and ladies and when this guy does find a fiancee and bring her to this area (LP said we aren't a country), he should be able to introduce his fiancee to several other Russian ladies at a time when she might need the support of other Russian ladies who have experienced what she is probably going thru. Ryan, Of course there are good AW. Keep all your options open. Keep dabbling with RW too. Just don't let any one process take total control of your life. Lookee here, overcoming adversity is a learned skill and now is your chance to work on developing it. Stop with the woe is me and get with the program. Take a break if you wish and then begin anew. The ads were a good idea, its how I started two years ago. Even though I ended up with someone from another source, the ads produced a few of the finest women I've ever had the pleasure to know. You need to clear your mind and refocus. Abandoning your predjudice towards agencies is a good start because you need to employ all the resources at your disposal. Condeming them does a diservice to you both, simply consider them another tool. (Just remember as with any tool, use it poorly and people will end up calling you "Lefty".) In fact, consider your entire 2.5 years a learning experience, not a failure. You're far better prepared to "do battle" now than you've ever been before. Just get back out there and do it. After all, whos in charge? Whos running your show? You are, thats who. My point is simple: If you don't play, you *can't* win. I mean jeesh, if I did this, anyone can. My entire life has been an overiding example of one principle: never, *ever*, give up. It isn't easy but it works, and will prepare you for endeavors far more difficult than this one. Run some more ads, use the Net, contact some agencies. Hey, I bet ol' Jack himself can help you if only you'd let him. Or try the method Our Man Stan did, although I wouldn't bet on those long odds turning out the same for you. The point is what your doing isn't working, so change the tactics somewhat. With life in general, if you always do as you did before, you'll usually get the same results. Go into a hold and all that happens is the clock keeps tickin... Besides, whats your alternative? Covering all the windows with aluminum foil and sitting with a frozen entree in the soft glow of the TV polishing your UZI? While certainly fun, it doesn't beat the soft glow of a good woman. Just because you ran a couple ads and got responses...but not the ones you want, I would not throw in the towel. ie: I could run a couple ads trying to sell a piece of property and maybe I would not get my desired reply...at first. So, I re-think that aspect. Look, as I see it---heres the deal for you. You have seemed hot to marry an FSU girl for some time. There are many nice, good-looking girls there. You: are here. Like 6000 miles away. So, you have to be creative in how you find some to meet when you go there in May. Don't discount any method. Like a good agency, which can help you alot. Help you seperate the wheat from the chaff. Time is money. It will be extremely rare for you to find a girl who has a computer at home and the money to afford the telephone internet line charges. And have very good English skills. I have only encountered 2, out of hundreds who have that luxury and it is really because their father makes quite good money for Ukraine and uses the computer for business. Anyway! I would view this as a long term project and not get excited about short term misfires. Be dispassionate. Patience. You can be sure there are some great girls there and it is simply a matter of finding some. What works for someone else may not work for you. There is a certain randomness and causality to all this. What works for you, may not work for another. I would adopt the view that this will not be easy...but may be worthwhile in the long run. There is nothing easy about this and it is not for the faint of heart. Think about all the methods you could employ. The most important one is you are going to Ukraine in May, the best method. LP Your letter is a keeper, one that should have a separate page on Planet Love & Frustration. I do believe that the further one gets into this thicket, kinda like Frodo entering the forest (I'm not a Tolkein geek, I promise) the better we can see the forest. Yes, for every man on this list, there is a woman out there with whom a married life could be made. Is this an easy process? We all the know the answer to that. I think one helpful key is to set realistic goals..remember, these ladies are smart, attractive...they're not desperate for any man. I think it can be helpful to identify ladies that might meet our expectations here in the US. Be age approapriate, and set your physical expectations appropriately. One message that I do get from FSU ladies is that for the women looking for husbands, they are simply unhappy with the men of their country. Some are good men, yes, but the majority of men really don't understand fidelity, tenderness. If you are a man capable of love, and can truly identify with the emotional needs of a woman, there are already, Ryan, 1000 women out there who would snap you up in a second. Be aggressive about how you market yourself. Leave no stone unturned. Be aggressive, but smart. It will happen for you.
