The best I have found is $1078. This is through a broker. The only problem is there are stops in Denver, Newark, and Frankfort. My wife dosen't want to change planes this much. A layover in Frankfort is required on the way back too. Her friend has tickets with Ukranian Air and she will fly from New York to Kiev without a stop. With the tickets from Salt Lake the cost was 876. Her husband did all the paperwork through snail mail. I haven't been able to contact anyone at Ukrainian Air yet but I'll keep trying. I found a website but it was under construction. If you guys hear of any deals let me know. I just do not see any really cheap fares out there. I am going roundtrip in the last two weeks of April to a smaller city in Russia after a stayover in Moscow. Aeroflot was by far the cheapest and that was not what I would consider cheap. If you have to switch airlines I have found the price to go astronomically up. The best thing to deal with are ticket consolidators or ticket agents that primarily deal in flights to the FSU. Summer is really going to be high this year - watch out! Title: Re: Cheap Air Fare ? Hi Jae, I am from Logan, and I have a ticket for April May. Looked a long time, and it cost me about $850 with taxes - NW/KLM. Salt Lake is a lousy place to fly out of! I just checked LOT and British Air through Chicago, and British Air was $62 cheaper. You would have to call them and get a connection flight though. I will check around. I think Czech and Austrian Air are the cheapest, but you will have to call them directly. Their online fare functions aren't too great. British Air is offering special deals to London for mid week travel from major american cities. I saw it on Yahoo. American also has some specials on now but I forgot if any were international. The specials end in the summer. Then you just have to figure out how to get from London to Kiev cheap. Western Europe to Kiev isn't always cheap, especiall when combined with the cost of getting across the Atlantic. I've price tickets from London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt to Kiev and gotten prices anywhere from $300 to $800 often with a change of plane. When you combine the Western Europe to Kiev flights with the fact that many/most of us do not live in/near the "major cities" you cite, these fares are competative, at best, with what can be gotten by ticketing straight throug from where we live to Kiev. Just my experience, your mileage may vary... Ukrainian Airways flys London Kyiv. I think it is about $270 roundtrip. British Airways flys right into Kyiv I believe, or they have a partner flight. British Airways does fly into Kiev, but flies this route every other day. They are partners with American Airways: when I tried to use frequent flier miles on this route, I discovered I would have to spend the night in London on the way back. Something to consider. |
