Does anyone know affectionate nicknames for the Russian name Zhenya? I've been writing a girl for 5 weeks, and she really makes an amazing effort to write affectionately and often to me. Here is a list (partial?) of affectionate suffixes to attach to ladies names or parts of ladies names. The one you chose is related to phonetics. How pleasing to one's ear the word sounds. You can call your new friend "Zhenechka". It is a nice name made from her own name. You can also call her: "dorogaya"(darling, honey), "lyubimaya" (sweetheart). Hello, Sometimes I wonder if I'm being picky/stupid. Anna is real, intelligent and would be a loyal wife unto death. A great lady from a great family, but I just didn't feel the spark that comes from being excited to spend the next 60-70 years together. We remain good friends, talking and emailing each other daily, but I know from her personality that her feelings towards me haven't changed. But in the long run, I don't feel anything but friendship for her, and can't be anything but a helpful friend to her. She is applying for a Muskie scholarship (which she'll probably get, as she is VERY qualified and works for a prestigious Western charity organization) and I helped her with TOEFL studying and how to wow her American interviewers. So I started all over again 2 months ago and met a nice girl from Perm; we'll be meeting in Moscow in June, followed by a visit to her family if things go well. I like to think I have a good nose for people's personalities and intentions, so I don't worry too much about being scammed. It remains to be seen if Zhenya's personality matches her warm, sincere and excited letters but WOVO is what I'm suited to. So June may be the beginnings of something wonderful!! When a guy profess to have a good nose for people's personalities and intentions (in this case it is about women), I do not know if I want to laugh or cry. No one can have a good nose or knowledge about women, they do not even have a good nose for themselves. Women are funnies animals, compare to us men, who are dumb animals. Just let her know to be aware that she has to return to Russian for two years after completing her studies under Muskie problem. Otherwise, it is the toughest battle with INS and Department of State to have the two-year requirement removed. Just something to consider.

RW, Thanks for the advice. It seemed that most of the Muskie applicants were female, and were warned that they weren't able to marry while under the auspices of the program. Zhenochka is the only one I can think of right now. Try looking here http://www.meighan.net/alexander/ I think it had names listed as well as tender phrases. |
