I am getting Married to a girl in Kiev later this Year, and because of her Career and family I have agreed to lve permantaly in ukraine, but I cant find any information about the rules for moving and living there. CAN ANY ONE HELP ME PLEASE.

I lived there for a long time, and by far, the most desirable type of visa to acquire is through a foreign based employer with an office in Ukraine. Find a company that is willing to hire you as a consultant or something and make your case for a three year multi-entry visa. If you can find work through a foreign aid/diplomatic mission, you will be best protected. Look for jobs with EU contractors and check with the Foreign Commonwealth office to find out whose projects they have funded or will be funding in Ukraine. You don't need a full time contract to get one of these visas. BTW, once you are resident in Ukraine, your are required to pay taxes on your WORLDWIDE income. Good luck. The visa/registration issues are pesky for a long term foreign resident without help from a larger organization. David, As it was suggested below, you should contact UK Embassy in Kiev and ask them all these questions. The best option for you though would be to find out if they have job opennings by any chance or if any of the companies working in Ukraine were interested to hire UK national. That would have many-many more advantages for you: your visa status would be done by company and updated regularly, you might find well paid job and all your living and travelling expenses would be covered. In terms of immigration laws of Ukraine you need to find out if dual citizenship would be allowed - that might be very serious consideration. But again, may be it would be better for you to consider job position (not even necessary with big UK corporation, but even teaching, consulting or depending on your background). There are tons of opportunities. regarding applying for residency - try to avoid it. with a multi-entry visa you can legally stay up to 6 months and then you must leave the country and re-enter though I do not believe customs checks it. it is likely you will be relived to get out of Ukraine at least every 6 months. if you are able to get a decent job your company can get you legalized for payroll if necessary. even then most firms with experience here know it is a major headache with the unknown costs as you must bribe people in several different offices. in turn they just pay you offshore (Channel Islands, Jersey, Cyprus....) almost all things you might need residency for your wife can already do them in her name i.e. bank account(would not want to keep much money in it), vehicle registration, business license............ where are you planning on living? What are you planning relative to work? The Ukraine Embassy here in America *will*. Go to this link: http://www.ukremb.com, If you *really* want to see if the US Embassy in Kyiv has any useful information regarding moving to Ukraine, you will find them here: http://usinfo.usemb.kiev.ua/main_eng.html. They definitely *do* have good information about the marriage process in Ukraine, among other things. Supplies the requirements for Ukraine, I doubt if the permanent resident requirements will be much, if any, different for a British citizen versus and American citizen.
