They have a project, similar to Echelon here, to watch over the net. The US, Russian, all have a big brother. Internet is the last place where the informations can flow freely, so the FSB is watching over it. They don't care about girl leaving the countries. Like for us, they do not want to the people to know, who is stealing them and how they are doing it. That's it. Title: Re: Russia to close Internet Cafes ? I suspect it is only gossip. What big business they do have there uses the internet for a lot of their daily work. Wouldn't such things interupt the business community they are trying to increase. I suspect if they want to make this exodus she spoke of difficult, they could easily ban all Police reports ( I know it's hard already to get one )and I'm sure there are other ways to do this. Heck some of the girls that are leaving never used a computer. Mike Title: I don't think they're going to try to stop women leaving. There are some very good reasons why women leaving the country is of benefit to Russia. It is about demographics. Russia has a state supported pension system and it is always in danger of failing. Women live longer than men and make less money than men. Therefore, the more women leave, the less of a burdon on the pension system there is. Woman are also the highest unemployed. Less women, less unemployment, more available jobs. Demographics. -blm Title: Re: I don't think they're going to try to stop women leaving. You are correct, of course, Barry; but, if anything, politicians are noted for their shortsightedness. I am sure many patriotic russians think beautiful young women are a national asset of some sort and may get a bout of flag waving distrust at the exodus. Some countries have had an on-going brain drain to the US, and, I'm sure, don't really like it one bit. Title: Where did she hear this?
