Title: It's A Boy...
Post by: RickM on January 31, 2002, 05:00:00 AM
Our newest Intl'(mix) addition...American/Russian
My wife Galina gave birth to our new son Alexander last night...
8lbs.13oz.and perfectly healthy...
Life certainly will change now.She has not even been here a year now.
Who said the "Big Guy" doesn't have a sense of humor???
She is simply amazed at how our medical system and hospitols function with things like private rooms, coaches allowed in the room and going home after giving birth in just a few days...
I can only imagine what the delivery room in the hospitol in Bishkek,Kyrgyzstan must look like...

Gee,can't help but think...If someone would have told me a couple of years back that I'd be going through Russia to Kyrgyzstan (Kyr-what???) and meeting the lady that'd soon become my wife and give birth to my son less than a year after arriving here in the US I'd have never believed it...

I suppose it's very true the saying that "The "Big Guy" has "already" in place for everyone of us a "Plan" pre-orchestrated and far better planned than we could have put together ourselves and on our own...I couldn't be happier and planned life any better than it turned out...It's amazing how Russian traditions have had such an "impact" on my family and friends here in the states...I'll post more about that in the near future...

Our 2 month old son Aleksandr is growing like a weed, he's up to 16 lbs already! It seems like everyone is having boys lately, I guess that means our sons will have to go to Russia to find a good wife too!

Title: Thanks Everyone...Ever Notice Russian Traditions And...

Family values and how they are so much closer than American values in general? It blows my mind how my wifes' family and close friends stay in such close contact despite the costs (and I know it is difficult to them with "their" salaries).
Her pop is Armenian and mom is Ukranien but they are Russian speaking and lived in Kyrgyzstan until pension time(retirement)and then they had to move back into Russian territory after perestorikya in order to receive their pensions.

Seems like since here the wife and her traditions have even rubbed off on "my" family because I never use to hear from "anyone" unless someone needed something but that has all somehow seemed to turn around since she has been here...

Thanks Carl...
Sasha is short and a "pet" name for any child or jr. and can be used both genders as well.It "usually" last until the teens as far as I can see...

Guess she didn't play hard to get once she got here, huh? (Hmmm... was it at least nine months after...? ;-)

I can tell you as a father two things:

One: It is harder than you can ever imagine

Two: It brings you greater joy than you ever thought possible.

Congrats to both of you!

Alexander is a good name. Saint Alexander Nevsky is a highly regarded historical figure in Russia. You have much to celebrate!
