I've not checked into this in 5 or 6 months, but when I was up to date on the time frame for NSC and the cable thingy, everything seemed to point that the cable would actually take longer for this service center, and would be a waist of money. The last I heard NSC was using normal mail to Moscow and approvals were there in 2 weeks once they left the mail room, then you have the 16 day name check, then they give out the interview date. I keep hearing that they no longer open a provissionary file there, but I've heard this before and know of people still managing to get them to do the name check prior to receiving the approval package, and thus saving the 16 days. If I was you I would save my cable money,and once you receive your copy of your approval, fax it to the Embassy along with a request for them to start the name check. Mike e-mail me for more info. The transit time for my recent K-1 approval from NSC to Moscow was 4 weeks via the normal pouch. Moscow says it's 4-6 weeks. Some fellows who got approvals from NSC had theirs take 8-10 weeks. Moscow will not open a provisional file and will not schedule the K-1 interview until they have official approval notification from the INS center --either pouch, cable, or fed ex. Whether the cabling from NSC is effective or worth it -- anybodys guess. I paid the fee for cabling (I-824?) my approved petition from the CSC and though I got a NOA that they had done this the same day that it was approved, it didn't get done for another three weeks. Cabling is considerably quicker than diplomatic pouch which can take weeks to reach the embassy. Downside is there may be charge to cable from NSC. If you want to cable, be sure to follow the procedures from the service center. Some automatically cable, like Vermont. Some don't. |
