Deckard's trip report - POST #1

From July 3rd to October 9th of 2001, I visited Ukraine.

What follows in the next 10+ of my "Deckard's trip report" posts will be a narration of my story . They will be rated 'PG'. Throughout the posts, there will be "SIDE NOTE" insertions, and these sometimes break from the story a bit in order to give extra information or observations that I want to include. Some of this is geared towards those of us that are new and maybe haven't been to the FSU yet. Hopefully even a few vets will enjoy my report overall.

I think I have concentrated on my life over there rather than how I arranged for travel arrangements, or how I set up various dates with women. The latter is because I did not go there to date women. I went there to meet one woman.

These posts are going to be long, and I do not apologize for that. My purpose here is to give the reader a good idea of what I went through in my first trip to Ukraine (indeed my first trip out of the U.S.) and what I felt at the time as I was over there. This means long posts :). I will try to put in only what I feel is important. Since I was there for 3+ months, I have much to share, and I even took 1500+ pictures, a few of which I probably will share.

Feedback/questions welcome and appreciated. Did you like/not like the way I wrote my trip report? Did you feel that I did not write enough about anything in particular?

If I was successful, at least you will get something out of it. I hope you enjoy it.
