Title: Question: Layover in Amsterdam. Post by: Marty on December 06, 2001, 05:00:00 AM Going to see the in-laws in Jan and made the tickets out so we'd have a two night stay in Amsterdam. Didn't even think about her possibly needing a Visa to enter the country. Larisa has her Conditional Resident Greencard but still uses her Ukrainian Passport. With all the forced layovers in Amsterdam I can't see that we'll have a problem but didn't get any help from the Amsterdam website. Just want to double check. Thanks for the help.
Glad to see the board is still going strong and a lot of new faces have become "old-timers". Keep up the good work. For all those still thinking about it, the adventure is well worth the lengthy paperwork. Title: Re: I'd like to be layed over in Amsterdam.... They say Amsterdam has more musems than any place on earth! What's the weather like in January? Title: I don't know whether it helps... Post by: Tootsie on December 06, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Question: Layover in Amsterdam., posted by Marty on Dec 6, 2001
Hi Marty! Nice to see you here again. Usually when one travels to another country through a third country which requires the visa and a person plans to entry this country he needs a transit visa. People I know who travelled this way always got the transit visa here in Moscow. It's a special visa and usually cost about half of a price of a "normal" visa. Last year I travelled to Washington DC through Frankfurt. I had to go from Frankfurt by American Airlines and the last moment they cancelled the flight. I was the only one Russian passenger (others were Germans or Americans), so I needed a German visa to leave the airport area for a hotel. They arranged a transit visa for me directly at the airport and it took just a few minutes. Good luck to you, Tootsie Title: Re: I don't know whether it helps... Thanks, best idea so far. Larisa is already in Ukraine, anybody know if she can get a transit visa there or is this a trip to Warsaw or Moscow? Title: Re: Question: Layover in Amsterdam. Marty, I read your dilemna and I just went thru this with getting a visa for Finland for my wife and daughter. Below I listed the site where you will need the information for the visa. SHE WILL NEED A VISA! A greencard does not entitle citizenship. Just follow the instructions on the forms. Need any help....just e-mail me. www.immigratiedienst.nl Still lurking, BrianC Title: Re: Re: Question: Layover in Amsterdam. Thanks for the tip, I wouldn't have found it. Got ahold of my travel agent and changed flights so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Will attempt a transit visa at the airport for the overnight, otherwise we'll just have a long layover at the airport. My own fault for not thinking about that visa. |
