I have already discussed this with a couple of people and they think it should be no problem and I am pretty sure that it will not be a problem but just the same I wanted to see if anybody else had encountered this senario and what you think.

As most of you know, I am currently working on a K-1 visa for my fiancee from Ukraine.  She sent me an e-mail saying that now her international passport must be translated from the Ukrainian language into English (Not Russian but Ukrainian).

As some may know that there is a very slight difference when translating into English.  What she told me was that there was just a couple of letters that change when translating from Ukrainian.

As an example (This is not her name, I just made it up.....) if her name was:

As translated from Russian into English- Anastasia Chikova

As translated from Ukrainian into English- Ganastasia Chykova

On all my K-1 documents that I submitted (I-129F, G325A, signed letters etc.) I spelled her name as it would be translated from the Russian language.  As you can see though that there is a small difference between the two and I wonder if there would be any possiblity of having any glitch if she submitted any documents to Warsaw if her name was not exactly letter for letter what I submitted.  

Anybody with any common sense could see it is the same girl and understand the difference in translation but this is the U.S. Embassy we are dealing with.  

Since there are several others that have gone through this process I was just curious what your take on it was.

Probably not a problem, but out of an abundance of caution I would use the Ukrainian spelling.  I thought the international Ukrainian passport had an English translation.

Perhaps I did not make it clear in my previous post.

1) I have already submitted my K-1 visa request and the TSC is currently working on it now.

2) The international Ukrianian passport is in English but they are using the Ukrainian translation of her name into English in the passport so it will be slightly different than if you translated her name from the Russian spelling (but only a couple of letters.  It looks almost the same just not exact.)
