I forgot where I saw it but there's a program where people go live in St Petersbug with a Russian family and they take intensive language courses for a month or more. There are other options where you can stay at a hotel. Title: Re: Re: Russian Language Courses in FSU countries? Do a Google.com advanced search. search on the exact phrase "russian language" with all the words "course petersburg study" This will give you a lot of links for study in Saint Petersburg. Just change the search for you interests. I wonder how many of the women in Ukraine that are leaving speak Russian and how many speak Ukranian? In Latvia it was all Russians leaving. Or at least, they have the ability to do so. When Olya and I were in Lviv, she was careful to be quiet when we spoke Russian - and in public with others, she would only speak Ukrainian - like all the other locals. That said, whenever I spoke Russian to anyone in Lviv, they fully-understood me and graciously responded. The only exception was the young daughter of a friend (maybe 8 years old) - born since Ukrainian Independence. She has learned no Russian in school and speaks only Ukrainian. - Dan Title: There are very good Russian language courses available Post by: amerikanka99 on November 03, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Russian Language Courses in FSU countrie..., posted by jj on Nov 3, 2001
at Kyiv State University. You could probably get some information about them (in English) through the ACCELS office which is on Shevchenko Park in the Red Building of the University. They might be able to tell you where to go--but I can not guarantee that. Title: Isn't There Also a Language Institute in Kyiv??? . . . I seem to recall some of my colleagues suggesting it for 2 reasons - one is to better learn the language - and the other is to meet some of the young ladies attending there to learn English. Unfortunately (not really --smile--), Olya came along and I lost interest - well, not in the language. - Dan Title: Pimsleur internet link FYI.
