I used a company in New York to process both of my visas. There name is CIBT. They are one of the more prominent visa processing shops for business in America. I've used them numerous times for visas to India, Taiwan and elsewhere. They are, however, one of the most pricey services around - and they are very anal-retentive about following procedures. Given that the FSU is the antithesis of procedure-following, I just found the two to be incompatible and I used other services (initially - and only for Ukraine). Just my $ .02 worth. My first trip was in June and my second trip was in Aug. I met her via a profile ad she had on the internet. I wrote to her about 6 months before I went over the first time. My visas were easy to get, my flights were wonderful. But most of all, the woman I met is now my fiancee! I traveled by train from Moscow to St.Petersburgh and to Izhevsk. I personally would not travel by air within country. The reason is that they fly mostly TU-154's which are the equivilant of our Boeing 727. However, if you look at the number of fatal crashes within the last two years it is scary. No one has survived any of them. So, just some advice. Take the train system and get a sleeper compartment. Rent all four berths so that you can have privacy. It's cheap!! Title: Why . . . ?????
