Title: Scammers, scammers everywhere, but not a one
Post by: Go2Rus on October 26, 2001, 04:00:00 AM
to be found.

Before my first trip, I read with great worry about the seeming abundance of scammers.  I sent initial contact e-mail messages to over 400 ladies on kiss dot com, americansingles dot com, and absoluteagency dot com.

I had responses from around 100 ladies and ended up exchanging more than two messages with 50 of them.  I exchanged over 10 messages with more than 30.  I met with 13.

Not once did I see the hint of any scam, and I never paid any money past the $20 or so per month to each match site, I never sent any money to any lady (and was never asked for any by the ladies), and I never paid any money for translations as one of my screens was English skills.  I was only asked by posting agencies for 3 women to pay them money, and I never corresponded further with those 3.

played it smart and gathered information you learned here and used it.  You are correct there are few scammers if you play it right.  I would like to hear more about the women that you met.  Did you hit it off with any?  Did you find the women clever, warm and inviting?  I also stay away from the arm candy. I feel more comfortable.

companions on dates.  However, I am writing up details on my visits with the 13 ladies in a very organized manner, and don't want to throw out too many tidbits in a random fashion just now.  I have already done some of that as above and below.

This was my experience also. I met the "Light of my life" thru an agency in Dnipropetrovsk. I never was contacted by a "scammer" nor was I even exposed to one during my three month search. Based on my experience I would urge searchers to assume they are dealing with normal everyday people. Horror stories are just that. No more common here than anywhere. Just follow your instincts and it will work out for you!!

I am just glad that I am not a 'teenager' again-in the metaphorical sense of course. I remember going through the whole process........and let me tell you ingnorance is bliss. I did not get bombarded with all of the 'anthrax' scares of RW. So I was not afraid to open my 'mail'. What I am saying is the propoganda from those who have bad experiences really create a lot of paranoia. But I was never one to listen to others failures as an excuse to give up-it was actually more of an incentive to see what the truth was.
So scammers...........yes I know many-but they are al AW. Are there RW scammers-I am sure there are many-I just have not met any-yet. So live and learn.

some guys to seem to hook up with several scammers, I don't know what the reasoning is behind my experiences and theirs.

I can say that I do not first look at the beautiful faces in making my initial contacts.  I have screens for English, education, height, weight, etc.  If those are not met, I try to avoid contacting even when they are beautiful.  I have made a few exceptions and got burned (not in the scam sense) but in the sense that we were mismatched when they didn't pass the initial screens, but yet I contacted them anyway.

I would suspect that only very beautiful women can be successful scammers.  Am I right??

yes a lot of the ladies i picked from kiss.com were beautiful but many  were average.

i think you must be a very lucky man, the reason i ask you to buy my lottery tickets. maybe i only picked about eighty or so ladies from kiss.com but one half, or about 40, were scammers. to me it is hard to believe we are talking about the same company

Actually I have had the same experience. Except I always offer to pay a small amount to the lady. I look at it as being a gentleman. They do not make the finances that we do here and personally I like to pay for the dinner. I also do not expect the women to know fluent English. So paying for internet fees does not bother or upset me. One girl from Odessa wants to meet me in Kiev. She is in school and is willing to take two 12+ hour train rides to see me for one day. Of course I offered to pay the train fair. And I will give her $30 miscellaneous for herself. If she doesn't show up so what. Do you actually think the $80 will break me? I think it is worth the risk. I get the feeling many of the guys are too paraniod or just plain old cheap! I have walked into a Casino and blown a few thousand in one night. I have spent $150 over 3 months writing and have had a blast! If I was a 24 year old girl and some guy 40 years old from America was writing I would be looking for the same. Isn't that why younger women seek out older men? Security! Money! It is the same the world over. Do I expect the girls I have written to be my wife over a few letters? No! Do I think they are writing to just me? No! So all I am doing is writing to a few and then visiting them. I have narrowed my choices to 6 and will see them in November. I have been upfront and honest with them. I believe after a personal contact I will get a better feel. And who knows I could meet someone there that I have not written to. I think having CONFIDENCE in yourself and not being afraid of getting burnt is very important! And so what if you do. Get up and brush yourself off. Or you can sit there and cry like the NRWA boys. Or is that babies?

I said that I never paid e-mail and was never asked to.  Of course I paid for all dinners, and in fact for all expenses when I was on dates with the ladies.  A couple of times I thought it got out of hand a little bit however.

For instance, one lady and I went to a trade show.  She told me she needed to go there in conjunction with her business.  Yet, when we entered, she took my money and paid for her own ticket also.

It wasn't the amount that made any difference, just the attitude that makes me wonder.

Ken,
You have the right attitude as far as I am concerned.  RW are no different than AW in some ways.  Some are good and some are bad and everything in between.  AW have mastered the ability to "work" a guy for what they want and you will find some RW will do the same.  If you have been a sucker here, you most likely will be one there too.  I will say that most of the sincere RW will never ask for any money and they will be uncomfortable accepting gifts.  I dated a lot of AW that were much more interested in my financial position than my RW Lena ever was.  I even found out that one woman I dated ran a credit report on me!!!  There are no women on earth more interested in a man's finances than a 30 or 40 something American divorcee.  And it gets worse as they get older too.  Tell me a 45 year old American divorcee isn't looking for a golden goose to provide for THEIR golden years!!  I got tired of thinking "IRA/401K" was stamped on my forehead, so I went Russian.  LOL
